Somali Boys Refused To Wrestle With Girls In School !!!!!!!!

Boys wrestling girls

The Seattle Times on Sunday reported a brewing Puget Sound-area sports controversy. Some parents are steamed because male middle- and high-school wrestlers from private Christian schools routinely forfeit matches when facing certain opponents: Girls.

Girls who wrestled for several Puget Sound-area middle schools this year easily won their matches against boys from two private schools. The girls stepped onto the mat. Their opponents from Tacoma Baptist and Cascade Christian stayed in their seats. The referee then raised the girls' hands to signal they'd won by forfeit.

That's got McMurray Middle School wrestler Meaghan Connors's tights in a twist. And her father, Jerry, a former Episcopal priest, is prepared to go to court over what he considers a clear case of sex discrimination.

Tacoma Baptist didn't comment on its no-wrestling-girls policy. But Cascade Christian superintendent Don Johnson told the Seattle Times that his school's policy is about propriety: Cascade "does not want to put our young men in a situation where they would be inappropriately touching a young lady," he said.

League president Dan Petersen says the Christian schools are perfectly within their rights, noting that wrestling rules allow a forfeit for any reason, even a religious one. But Mr. Connors says "there's a limit" to the role of religion in public life -- a boundary apparently reached when one person's religion impedes on another's athletic pursuits.

Two questions: One, do middle- and high-school wrestling leagues in your area allow boys and girls to compete against each other? And two, if you're a parent of girls, would you allow them to wrestle boys in competition?

There are a great many sports where women and men do not compete against each other, and I would consider this one to be an obvious choice. Feminists just crack me up.
