This is a brief response to a question that was raised about this particular group.
Hopefully, it will be sufficient for those who are sincere in their search of the
truth.

What Is The Methodology Of Shabaab?
“A member of her household bore witness.” (Yusef: 26)
Ahmed Godane, who is currently one of the leaders of this household (i.e.
Shabaab), stated in a recorded message to Bin Laden1:
“Here we are at your service, O our Ameer, our Shaykh, O Abu ‘Abdullaah. The
Mujaahidoon here are well.”
“We give you glad tidings of that which will delight you, and we await your directions.”
ʺMay Allaah bless your actions and your Jihaad.ʺ
You can also hear some of the members of Shabaab instructing a group of young
children to shout the following:
“We love you, O Usaamah!”

“We love you, O Usaamah, and we (pledge) to hear and obey you!”
Upon hearing the last part of this audio it reminded me of the statement of Imam
Ahmad (may Allaah have mercy upon him) when he stated:
“If you see a young person accompanying the people of Sunnah from the
beginning of his early life, then have hope for him. And if you see him with the
people of innovation, then do not have these hopes for him. Verily, the youth
will be upon that which they were first raised.”2
May Allaah protect these children from anything that is evil and harmful, and
we ask Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, to grant them the opportunity to sit with
some of the people of Sunnah in Somalia.
The Position Of The Scholars Regarding Osama Bin Laden
The scholars of Islaam even prior to 9/11 have consistently warned against Bin
Laden.

Shaikh Muqbil bin Hadi al‐Wadi’ee (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated,
as was published in the Kuwaiti magazine ‘ar‐Ra’i’, dated 19/12/1998:
ʺI free myself before Allaah from Osama Ibn Laden. He is a calamity and trial for
this nation, and his actions are wicked.ʺ3
Do Not Be Fooled By Those Who Mask Their Corruption by Abusing the
Concept of Jihaad
Throughout the ages, the heads of misguidance and innovation have done their
utmost to manifest and promote their falsehood in the form of the truth as it was
impossible for them to spread their corruption except in this manner.
For example the Khawaarij raised arms against the Muslim rulers and fought
them under the guise that they were enjoining the good and forbidding the evil.

The Jahmiyyah denied the names and attributes of Allaah under the guise that
they were freeing Allaah of all deficiencies and imperfections.
The Raafidah manifested their disbelief, heresy and attack of the companions of
the Prophet under the pretense of their ardent love for the Prophet’s relatives.4
I say: In our time, the neo‐Jihadist movement condones the murder and
slaughter of innocent people under the guise of Jihaad.
The Khawaarij Wage Jihaad in obedience to the Devil
Shaykh al‐Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated:
“However, it is obligatory to differentiate between the legislated Jihaad which
Allaah and His Messenger has commanded and the innovated Jihaad which is
the Jihaad (waged by) misguided individuals who perform Jihaad in obedience
to the Devil but they believe that they are performing Jihaad in obedience to The
Most Merciful (ar‐Rahmaan). This is like the Jihaad of the people of innovation
and desires such as the Khawaarij and other than them who fight against the
people of Islaam…”5
And he said: “The opposition of the Khawaarij to the community would be
apparent at times when they would murder the people, as for today then the
majority of people do not know them.”6
I advise the brothers and sisters to familiarize themselves with the attributes and
descriptions of the Khawaarij that have been documented by the scholars of
Islaam in their classical works.
Those Who Traverse Upon the Path of the Khawaarij in This Era Have a
Thirst, Just Like Their Ancestors, For the Blood In The Muslim Lands
Abu Qataadah said:
“We do not want to fight America unless she attacks us and she initiates the
fighting. This is in opposition to the apostate regimes in our lands because the

Jihaad against them is considered to be obligatory upon each and every
Muslim.”7
Ayman az‐Zawahiri said:
“Quds will never be conquered and settled until the battle in Egypt and Algeria
is over, and unless Cairo is captured.”8
Anwar al‐Awlaki said:
“May this be the beginning of the greatest Jihaad, the Jihaad of the Arabian
Peninsula that would free the heart of the Islamic world from the tyrants who are
deceiving the Ummah and standing between us and victory.”9
Bin Laden said:
“And we emphasize to the true Muslims that it is obligatory upon them to take
action, incite and mobilize this nation in light of such major events and in such
hostile environments to escape from the servitude of these oppressive and
apostate regimes that are subservient slaves of America in order to establish the
rule of Allaah on the earth. The regions of the World that are most deserving of
liberation are Jordan, Morocco, Nigeria, the land of the two Holy places (i.e.
Saudi Arabia), Yemen and Pakistan.”10
Sayyid Qutb said:
“There is not a Muslim country upon the face of the earth or even a Muslim
community with social principles based on Allah’s legislation or on Islamic
understanding.”11
Sayyid Qutb said:
“Perhaps it has become clear to you from what we have mentioned that the
ultimate goal of Jihaad in Islaam is to destroy these systems that are inconsistent
with its fundamental teachings and to establish in its place and as a replacement
a regime which has been founded upon the principles of Islaam. This
responsibility, the task of launching an Islamic revolution, is a common duty and
it is not limited to one region of the World with the exception of another. Rather,
Islaam requires and deems it to be of vital importance that this revolution is
universal and occurs throughout the World….

It is imperative for the Muslims or the members of the Islamic party to begin
their duty of initiating the desired revolution and to endeavor to change the
system of government in their lands in which they live.”12
Conclusion
I advise my brothers and sisters to abandon this organization and any others that
have a similar methodology until they openly repent to Allaah, and free
themselves from this destructive path.
