I was watchin' somethin' about this on the Somali channel xalayto. Shocking waaye. This sheikh was talkin' about how they knock on Somali people's doors, and they target the youth mainly, because they're easily influenced. They have other Somalis oo lacag doon ah translatin' these books about Jehovah Witness etc into Af-Somaali so they can mislead the masses. He was sayin' how they've traded their akhira for this dunya! He also talked about practical ways of counteracting this. He said we should also give them the Qur'an, and explain to them our Deen. If you want me to listen to you, you gotta listen to me too. How do you know what I have to offer you isn't better than what you're offerin' me? It's our duty to also talk to them about Islam, or at least give them sources, or direct them to people who have better knowledge than us etc. He was sayin' how we as Muslims have become lazy because instead of giving, we're receiving, Instead of being active, we're passive and instead of being strong, we're weak ..etc. All he said was true! Ilahay ha naga qabto gaaladan ilahayne jidka toosan ha nugu xafidho kuligeen...Ameen!

We had a similar thing happen in our town. They rented a billboard in front of one of the biggest Somali mini-malls inviting people to call a toll free number and learn about christianity in Af Soomaali.

Xoogsade14:- They're developin' new tactics every time. The funny thing is, they don't even hide it. They target especially Somalis nowadays. There are some Somali youth in foster care introduced to Christianity, etc. This is why I believe more Somalis should become foster parents!

Well I am gonna tell you something my friend , honestly I have always been worried about christianity becoming more attractive for some muslim youngsters since 2001 .Just like some are becoming more radicalized ,more are getting out ,that is just a reality. We will have to live with .

I doubt that Somalis would flock to Christianity in droves because if the past is an indicator of things, Somalis don't tolerate minority religion among its populace. If we were tolerant, we would have still had a core of people who worshiped the PreIslam religion of Waaqefana residing in Somalia. Yet there are no Waaqefana adherents unlike in neighboring Ethiopia & Northern which still has a sizable minority of Waaqefana & even Yehuds.

I am sure there will always be a few who convert to other religions but it happens with all people. So don't worry and instead focus on practicing the religion and educating the youth about Islam in a positive way i.e. not scaring them of hellfire, or sending them to dugsi to be beaten or teaching them to FEAR (terrify) Allah but from a positive direction: Islam as a religion of love, mercy and forgiveness. Muslims also need to get more wadaads who understand life in the West and the difficulties faced by the youth here. Instead we have out of touch wadaads who still think we are in Muslim majority nations & are out of context.

These missionaries are slick. They preach their religion from a "loving" point and peddle the "forgiving Jesus" and not to mention make it seem to be an easy religion to practice.
