Somalia, state of the nation

Not much to say really, the government has begun their counteroffensive against al-Shabab in northern Mogadishu, and Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jamaca have finished their counteroffensive against Beledweyne.

As Banadir State has declared its existence, albeit without control over the majority of it's territory, I have included it in the area that is free from al-Shabab.

For a white person, James Dahl is a bit biased. I can tell he is not a big fan of Somaliland and Puntland. He likes hawiyes.

Ceeloqoday is literally 5 minutes away- rough road, probably 1 minute outside Erigavo.

And Garadaag is further WEST and so is Ceelafweyn they are considered border towns by North West Gardag being the far South.

When did Ahlul Sunnah recapture Beledweyne? I thought it was under Xisbul Islam/Shabaab

Hmm you're right, it looks like they re-took the city. Last I had heard ASWJ had re-re-captured it.

The city's a football I tell you, back and forth and back again.

James Dahl, you have gotten most of Ceerigaabo district wrong , who told you that puntland comes near Erigavo district? which is over 90% fully controlled by somaliland, to make it simpler for you , anything south , west , north, north east - Midhish, East Ceel la qooday , Dar es salam, south Godcanood, masagan, Yufleh, - Dar es salam, durdur, Garabcaad, Bohol, dararweyne, darsi , hundegal, Kulmiye,Xariin xurwee is settled by the Muse ismaaciil and sacad yoonis sub clans of Habar Yoonis and all the border areas bordering the harti , the border ends at hundegal that is where the H.Y and Warsangeli border meets at, and the H.Y extend further east to Yube , just few kms from there like i pointed out in the map , in general Erigavo district is a Gadhweyn - Somaliland clan - domin over 90 percent of Erigavo district is settled by the Gadhweyn and the 10% is the minorities, so i don't get where you get this idea that puntland has anything to do with erigavo district? erigaavo district is strictly controlled by somaliland and the mayor and governor of ceerigaabo city & district is Haji Ismail Nuur, Erigavo district has never been contested it's fully under the somaliland regime, not to mention the governors and mayors of erigavo has always hailed from the somaliland people, the nearest puntland are able to come is badhan never near erigavo though, since they know a strong somaliland army is stationed there, i hope this helps you out of your confusion in the erigavo district, here i highlighted red line on where the border should be based on which clans habit there - the somaliland friendly clans inhabit those borders that i highlighted the red hope it helps you out.

Mayor of Erigavo - Haji Ismail Nuur - the mayors of erigavo have always hailed from somaliland never puntland

In Hiiraan, Hisbul islam/Alshabab coalition control balad weyne and the surrounding area. In Galguduud, Alshabab control Galcad/ceeldhere and all the other tuulo in the surrounding area. Your other banadir detail map was more factual than this one. Puntland does not come under the jurisdiction of of the tfg. Ahlu sunnah broke into 2 groups; the ones in dhusemereeb/Guriceel have agreed to join the tfg while the ones in Cabudwaaq/Balabanle decided against it. Al shabab fully control Shabellaha dhexe, wtf is benadir state?

Good stuff James Dhal   . Things are definitely getting interesting in Galguduud with the recent ahlu sunnah agreeement with the tfg. Alot of clans seem to be breaking away from them.

What got you interested in Somali politics?
