Amethyst...It's the new coalition of rightwingers running the show. Some in Washington political circles believe Obama is purposely derailing Netanyahu's fragile coalition in attempt to bring Tzipi Livni or another member of the Labor Party to power. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ehud Barak, the current defense minister and former PM, challenge Bibi in the next election. He's far more pragmatic than this nut.

For a country that's so worried about it's existence, they are committing a series of politically suicidal moves.

About Turkey....lol....Actually it wouldnt have been such a bad thing for them to be allowed. Amethyst..Oh, I agree! She is no saint. There's hardly a moderate politician, relative to what we are used to in the West, in Israel. We are all a product of our environment, no? The middle east is not known for breeding liberals. It's not about who you can trust in politics but who you can work with to make compramises. The Obama admin may believe they can work with her. Everyone knows Netanyahu is blowing hot air when he speaks of the two State solution. The man doesn't believe in peace. I read excerpts from his book. He doesn't for a second expect things to change.

When it comes to Turkey, the Europeans see 70 million Muslims. 70 Million Muslims with EU citizenship would mean they can travel and live anywhere they want on the continent, bring cheap labor, further dilute the dying pool of the white european race, and give Islam a stronger presence. I'd be scared if i were the EU.
