Definitely, man. Every Somali here, their uncles, aunts & cousins are queuing up to buy a house here. Its getting crazy now with folks causing market inflation in some areas & going to bidding wars. Its a great investment anyway you look at it. Let me know if you want my agent's digits.

Man I cant believe how cheap the houses are, Im just talking hot air now cus I am a broke student but man I hope it stays like this for few more years  but Yhh man somalis should take advantage of the situation because it beats renting for ever. Imagined not having to pay rent asides from few house fees.

btw if I bought the house straight cash, am I still require to pay mortgage?

Advo, you'd be amazed at how you can actually make it happen once you get the wheels in motion. You should def tell your folks, borrow from relatives & friends, there's even a 10% tax credit if you buy a house that the IRS will give you. Its called first time home buyer tax credit (if the house is $70k, the government gives you $7K), just google it or google form 5405. There are minority lending programs & rehabilitation loans as well for areas/counties with high foreclosures.

Funny thing is the link you posted is of an area called Stone Mountain and that particular sub-division, there are at least 3 Somali families that bought houses there. Its a nice area and near Stone Mountain recreation park. Once you buy a house, its a done deal, never worry about rent money again, just utilities and property taxes which are around $1200-$2500 annual depending on the area. It will change the way you think about this country.

70.000 is cheap for a house, but it's still a lot, are there interest free loans or?

I gotta warn you though, bro. Most of these foreclosed homes have some issues. Most of them have either been vandalized or sabotaged by their previous owners. Mine came with major septic issues and set me back quite a bit. Nothing is ever as glamorous as folks make it. But if you're willing to work with what you find, you can turn any junk in to a gem. There are a lot of Latinos here and will fix anything for a fraction, but you gotta do a thorough inspection first.

Check out: http://www.realtor.com/

Check Sacramento, CA. They got some good deals there too.
