Moving the Capital
How many of you would agree with moving the capital to Hargeisa and using the somaliland Government as an interim government? Personally, I dont see the point in flogging a dead horse, when Muqdisho is concerned. The only people who would disagree with such a measure are qabiilists. Berbera, Burco, Boosaso and Garowe could be the next major cities. Plus Northern Somalia is far more strategically place than xamar. It has the advantage of being on the red sea (a great shipping highway) as will as having the indian ocean on the east. Also there is already a sizable reer koonfur diaspora in Hargeisa and Bosaso.

Somaliland is a sovereign country. How do you ask one country to host the capital city of another country?

Bossaso is not an outrageous choice, but they would have to change the name first.Mad May wrote:MiskiinTwisted_Logic wrote:Somaliland is a sovereign country. How do you ask one country to host the capital city of another country?![]()

Re: Moving the Capital
Hargeisa is not central enough to host the neededs of all somalis, nor are moqadishu or gerowe.
GaalKacaayo
is more strategic and centrally placed to serve as a federal capital. With region capitals of moqadishu, hargeisa and gerowe serving as regional adminstration centres. For future inclusion of the ogadeen as a 4th federal inclusion with it's capital to be decided.

This in my opinion is the way forward.
Who knows the region well? i would like to consider buying some land there.

Re: Moving the Capital
I´m willing that the capital should be in Puntland, lakiin on one condition: Reer Muqodisho should stay in muqdisho, they are not allowed to relocate!!!
Twisted, what's wrong with the name Bosaaso?

Key to peace in Somalia is peace & security in Mogadhiso I think

Re: Moving the Capital
Bosaso =
Gateway to the Middle East (1 hour flight from Dubai), close to many other metropolises such as Mumbai and other Indian cities
Strategic location (Far away from the border with Ethiopia, surrounded by mountains (difficult to attack)
Diverse population, 40% Majerteen, 20% other Daroods, 10% other Northerners, 20% Southern Somalis, 10% Foreigners

No city in Somalia has the infrastructure to be a capital city.
