What do you say in Arabic?

Post by guhad122 »

So I once a while get calls for translation/interpreter service calls. And for some reason I put down I can handle Arabic in an application years ago. So last week I got a call from Doctor's office for a an old Arabic lady needing interpreter. Well, the doctor asked me to ask her if she has been having normal stool episodes. And I said "Cindak Saxara"?
And she said "Anaa maa shufta Saxara, haadaa fi Libya"?

Where is Hyper when you need him the most? Isn't Saxara Carabic word? Fock I don't think I would get any more calls from that agency for Arabic

Not just basbaas. Xaar would actually be mistaken for a fever.

At any rate, the man is not a good interpreter. He’s trying to go for direct interpretations when a roundabout way would have sufficed. Bearing in mind that he’s talking to an older Muslim woman, etiquette would have prevented him from using the word ‘stool’ when asking the question anyway. Better to have asked if she visits the toilet regularly and if she noticed anything unusual during such visits. Therefore, a professional Somali interpreter with a spattering of Arabic would say:

"Anti tarooxi xamaam kateer? Keef hada daakhil xamaam? Tamaam wala mosh tamaam? Fee xaaga axmar wala loon xaqa alwaax fi xamaam? Kola xaaga caadi, so maaha?"

ader guhad, if you want to sound official you could say:
kam mara taroo7el hamaam, youmi/ 'adatan ?

you can say it in a sentences, not just a word you say it.

"Anti tarooxi xamaam kateer? Keef hada daakhil xamaam? Tamaam wala mosh tamaam? Fee xaaga axmar wala loon xaqa alwaax fi xamaam? Kola xaaga caadi, so maaha?"
