The arabian Bedouins are divided into five related tribes. These tribes were organized on several levels—a widely quoted Bedouin saying is "My brothers and I against my cousins, then my cousins and I against strangers".

Me and my clan against the world;
Me and my family against my clan;
Me and my brother against my family;
Me against my brother.

I question that validity of that mentality. For instance, during the colonial times, some Somalis were collaborating and helping the colonials against the Sayid and his forces. During the past decade, we have seen some Somalis collaborating and helping the West and Xabashi against the ICU, Al-Shabaab and other groups. So, the notion that all Somalis unite against strangers isn't valid.

My clan comes first
then my religion
then my country and community last
So, for Somalis, Clan is first before religion and country. that tells you why you never see a Somali fighting for the general purpose, and sacrificing his clan needs for the greater good.

That's Moryanism, and majority of Somalis don't have that trait.
