The normal Somalis abused people who wanted to maintain their native languages....We should have been proud of their culture and uniqueness....

You are what you have was also true in Baydhaba.
We discriminated reer Baydhabo becuase reer "faradheer" were usually from one economic class where the locals were from different economic background. In Baydhabo and most of the South the dominant economic group: merchants administrators, and land owners spoke Maxaatiri where the locals who spoke Maay possessed neither an economic nor adminstrative muscle.
It was as simple as this: Maay language was "inferior" becuase it was associated with neither economic nor political muscle. Maxaatiri was "superior" because of its economic and political superiority.
How it trickled down to everyday man.
I gew up in Baydhabo but never expected myself to acquire the local language even though we were migrants from Mudug. On the other hand we expected our lacal friends to speak "proper" Maxaatiri just like the man in the video.

The entire Somalia was doomed because of our mistreatment of our own people. Why not make everyone who works in Bay and parts of Bakool learn Maay Maay instead of sending a high-on-qaad Faradheer to teach them Somali.
Notice the very first time he tries to show the picture, he is showing a blank page and he is looking at at. The students had to remind him to flip the page......
Macalinka: Waryaa ciyaarta iga daa ii sheeg magaciisa
Student: Ceesaan waa maxaa!!!
And notice the focking Faradheer Biatch who thinks she is a smart student. Check how her accent is Reer-Mudug. Why would anyone from Mudug or in that area need to identity a picture of Orgi.
Anyways, I just can't get anough of watching this...It is at times hillarious

This dude is straight out of Mudug. I do believe that mission was critical. I mean the Country is SOMALIA, You must speak SOMALI. Its like saying I'll live in China and not speak Mandarian but some tribal dialect.

And then when he tells the name of the picture is Orgi, he doesn't go back to the students who thought that picture was a ceesaan....He should explain them the difference between Ceesaan and Orgi....What a focking Mooryaan.....

This is utterly sad and a true illustration of what really want wrong. Can you imagine these charlatans teaching in our schools, systemically erasing the language, culture, traditions and dignity of an entire people. Injustice breeds injustice. It is remarkable that the student tolerated his hatred and arrogance.

After looking carefully as well as checking out the other videos in the account, I think it is a "play". It is an RRA guerrilla era play which is supposed to show why they were fighting to begin with.

TW,
Students had no choice; as matter of fact he could have slaped them and nothing would have happened....This mounted nothing less than abuse....
There are so many billingual people who speak both Somali and Maay, why not find good teachers from them and send them.....The differences of the two languages aint that much....
Mostly likely this Qaad-Head focker had strong connections in the system to act like he is teaching in that beautiful and green environs...

Voltage,
Good point! That is why I thought, but after showing the video to some former ministry of education folks, they verified that this is actually a true video.....When I first saw it, I thought it was some kind of Riyaawad but it is not....
