Dawwa, while most people prefer to make an easy and stable pay at restaurants and security jobs, others take a risk. My last job was 2 years ago and similar to this one, I used to work directly under company VP in growing tech company, used to make like $15/hour plus bonuses which were 50% of my pay and only worked part time. If I stayed there for 2 more years before heading to college I'd be making $50k right now. Even stock brokers and accountants only need certificates, no degrees and even interviews consist of a short intro conversation and nothing more. These sales & finance jobs are hard to work since your pay is mainly and sometimes always commission-based, but the payoff is ridiculous.
I love America, land of capitalism.

Yea, I'm pretty sure no reputable accounting firm would hire a degree-less accountant. Maybe some strip mall accounting store in Los Vegas, but no reputable employer.paidmonk wrote:Dawwa, while most people prefer to make an easy and stable pay at restaurants and security jobs, others take a risk. I'm also glad that you're interviewing for a well compensated job, but I think you'll have plenty of competition with the thousands of unemployed accountants from the economic recession (most of whom are more experienced than you)....perhaps it's to early to celebrate.

CPA > 4-yr degree. No college necessary.
As for stock brokers, a lot drop out of college and take the Series 7 certification.
I got hustler in my blood, that's worth more than a Master's.

Most, if not all, states require a Baccalaureate at the minimum to even sit for the test. Most Stock Brokers are also graduates from prestigious universities and MBA programs.paidmonk wrote:CPA > 4-yr degree. No college necessary.

union
Even in the Big 4 accounting firms there are two routes to qualify as a chartered (or certified) accountant. Either join as graduate or join as a non-graduate and they will train you and fund your accountancy qualification. Its about getting the certification as paidmonk mentioned.

Gay porn stars do make more money than straight ones.
This loser wants us to believe that he can make $80,000 a year as an account withOUT a master's degree & CPA certification. What America do you live in? You may able to fool the folks from Europe & other places but you won't fool those educated in North America.
I took managerial accounting class with a lady who worked her way up from receptionist to VP of accounting/finance in her firm without a degree. It only took her 23 years! And they still told her to back to school and get a diploma in order to keep her job and/or move up. This is after the Enron scandal and the passing or sarbane/oxley act of 2002. And she worked for a major agri business. Because of stringent regulation, accountants in important positions must be certified and extremely experienced to make that kind of dough. Yes, it's possible to get into the sector as a clerk or some other low level position but only certified accts with degrees that much money.
Now be honest and tell these ppl what job you are starting cus it aint in accounting. Tell us which firm is hiring non-certified idiots without a degree in this recession for 80k.

Most states, including OUR state of MN, require at least 150 hours of college..That's more than 4 years (bachelor). I remember this because my advisor told me in my freshman year that to SIT, not receive, but to sit for the CPA exam, I must have AT LEAST my bachelor's and then some additional courses...Want proof, moron? My point wasn't regarding your first post but your allegation regarding obtaining CPA without a college degree...What are you qualified for that you can make 80k? lol...
So you do admit to being a gay porn start? loool..Knew it!

Most states doesn't equal every state. It used to be that you didn't need school for CPA. Go take your Zoloft.
