I personally think if Puntland establishes a deal with the onlf it can be of mutual benefit for both the clans. The animosity really is of no favor to us nor to them!!!
If puntland tells the onlf drop their arms sign a ceasefire with addis ababa and in return ask for important posts within the ethiopia parliament along with parliamentary seats and also be "Special Representative of Ethiopia In Relations To Somalia" we can manipulate this excellent strategical tie and get the wakiil to always give support to a puntlander to be president of somalia and in return we will guarantee that onlf inhabited areas recieve development, progress, etc.
We can use the wakiil to always deny isaaq and hawiye ppl any hope because after-all we are 1 way or another tied to addis ababa
Anyways I don't see why that aint possible other then small fact of wakiil electing a onlf person to be president of somalia but it wouldnt be reasonable to do that because onlf ppl dont warrant such seat considering their not majority clan in somalia.
I believe with this strategical tie of having important member within ethiopian politics can give puntlanders the edge over other somalis in establishing our clan as no 1 and the rest just as secondary clans and they cant do anything about it other then fact they switch allies to eritrea and recieve arms/money from them and we all know eritrea reputation in the world aint that great and would be disastrous political move for whatever faction would take that route just look at dahir aweys and his current situation.
I think it would be wise move to explore this option in garowe and set up meeting between the onlf and puntland to hold talks, mind you addis ababa won't get to upset we can just tell them that we are discussing ways to have the onlf disarm which is true because that is what we want to achieve and at same time set-up framework of bilateral ties between us and the onlf state so they can always put in their support diplomatically to fellow daroods in Somalia!!!!
