One of the Lessons learn from the Civil-war
One of the big lessons learned from the Somali civil-war is, if you gonna start war, plan how to stop it and bring back order.
Like all these factions USC, SNM etc were only planning the war, not what is gonna happen after the war. The problem with USC was, it was worrying about overthrowing Said Barre's regime, but never did it think about, what to do after they overthrow him, how to govern 10 million ppl, how to reconcile, hold elections and assure ppl instead of going on a witch hunt for Darood or fighting between themselves. bad, bad planning. They never thought about how to rule a country that have been under dictatorship for 20yrs. just lets get rid of this dictator, so what is next? 20yrs of choas!
so next time, if you gonna start something, plan it all the way, how to finish it etc.

Re: One of the Lessons learn from the Civil-war
Ironman,
USC did not get a chance to implement their agenda:
1. Stubborn Dictator & Supporters that refused to concede defeat and seek peace but instead supported sabotaging the reconciliation process
2. Kenyan Intervention to undermine the USC by arming the Ex-President in his failed bid to seize power
3. UN Intervention to weaken the USC
The USC's only mistake was not starting their campaign on October 21, 1969 instead of being gullible people.

Both USC and SNM were two entities led by crazy men. If both of them respected the Tuur-Juus-Caydiid agreement, things would have been different.
And anytime I think about Caydiid and USC, the Somali great Somali proverb comes to my mind "Fuloow Guuli kuu dhaweydaa".

Guhaad,
Caydiid (AUN) did everything he could to salvage the agreement but external forces conspired hard to plunge Somalia into further instability.

Abdihutu, I'm not big on hating Hawiye folks, not your biggest critic but in this case sxb you are wrong everyone else and Ironman is right; if you are going to over-throw a government or any kind of establishment not only are you suppose to have plan A, but you should have plan D to deal with anything that comes up un-expected. If the USC didn't start massacring innocent civilians and instead said to the Somali public, our main target was the government and their cronies and this is your cope as much as it is the USC's so lets reestablish a central government and rebuild our nation; we wouldn't be in this hot mess after 20 years.
A lot of Daroods would've welcomed the idea. Only if...
