Somali weddings are boring in comparison
This is a persian nikaax, love the video lakin check out the stuff that is actually laid out at the nikaax. Notice please that the bride is actually present at her own wedding! Why she can't be there when she's getting married according to Somali culture I will never understand. Anyway there is the quran which represents religion/faith in their marriage, the rings represent the promise, the mirror is for the bride to look at herself before the nikaax (this one is weird but I guess you're looking at your single self one more time and being honest with yourself about the decision?). You will notice the sugar cane that the bridesmaids will rub on top of the cloth placed above couples heads, this is to represent sweetening of their relationship. When the sheikh asks them if they do, the girl says "with the permission of my father and mother I do" the guy apparently doesn't need permission. Then they sip bitter youghurt to symbolise sticking through the bad times and they feed each other honey to symbolise enjoying the good times togetehr. Now tell me isn't that the most romantic nikaax ceremony ever! I can't imagine a somali couple feeding each other honey or kissing like that but I think the bride being present will be welcomed progress!

Stick to the traditional somali nikaax
Segregation between men and women in the nikaax ceremony is part of our culture and religion.

Not not indian tradition but a Hindu religious practice. Hindu marriages are not valid unless they walk around what they call a sacred fire.

Men are not at the shash saar, so why should you sit there in the middle of the nikhaax with the odayaal.

Exec - Shash saar is different though, it's being welcomed into 'womanhood' now why would the guy need/want to be there? Lakin nikaax is getting married, it's your actual wedding but its been hijacked by bariis iyo hilib cunoow and handing out money.
