I shall and will forever hold on. Among the orphans scattered to the 4 corners of the globe it has been 21 years since our forced separation. Not a day passes that i haven’t wondered why this had to happen. Why your children have forsaken you to choose a life of foster care and aimless wonder about the globe.
Amidst strange faces in far away hostile environments i recall your beauty every time i glimpse one of your orphans. Your warmth, your embrace, your nurture and unconditional love is nowhere else to be found. Justice has lost it grace, jesters joust over your grave.
I have a part of you, i am a part of you and i took a part of you. A rock just a small rock of no value to any other of no beauty to other dwellers. You are mine, part of me and you kept a part of me. A rock solid mass of knots, hard diamond thoughts and dreams of our destiny intertwined.
I shall forever hold on to this part of you as you hold a part of me forever. I took just this part of you and i do hope it is a part of you and not some part of a rock that fell from the heavens.

I was too young to have known what was even going on when i left but i am glad i took this little stone about the size of a strawberry and i have kept it for always. I hope to one day take it back to moqadishu and i just hope it wont be another 21 years.
