An Australian filmmaker has recruited a number of young men and women to auction off their virginity to the highest bidder as part of a reality television show, reports the Sydney Daily Telegraph.

The filmmaker, Justin Sisely, apparently spent over a year looking for willing participants to appear on the program. After being told that he would be charged with prostitution in Australia if filming went ahead, Sisely is now planning to move the show to, where else, Las Vegas.

"The hardest part is telling the parents, they hate me," Sisely said.

Each virgin will receive $20,000 for participating, as well as 90 percent of the auction price, according to Sisely.

9News in Australia interviewed one of the virgins reportedly taking part in the auction, who argued that what she was doing did not amount to prostitution.

"It's not going to be a regular thing, so in my head I can justify that I'm not going to be a prostitute," the woman, who did not give her name, said.

And yet even in Sin City Sisely's project might not be welcome. An article in the Las Vegas Sun reported that the plan could run into legal trouble in Nevada as well.

George Flint, lobbyist for many of Nevada's brothels, said "bringing women across state lines" for prostitution could put Sisely in violation of the Mann Act. Flint, a wedding chapel owner in Reno and lobbyist for the Nevada Brothel Owners Association, said the federal law prohibits taking women across state lines for prostitution.
