What constitutes the Somaliland nation?

This isn't a qabiil/negative thread so don't start. Just describe what you consider the Somaliland 'nation' to be, what makes you a distinct group that has a right to self-determination? Do you choose to consider yourself part of that nation, on a civic basis, or is it something you just are?

I still cant grasp how Somalilanders (in Somaliland) define themselves as a distinct nation, distinct from other Somali speakers. So far you have only defined the territorial aspect, which wasn't defined by Somali's, so what is it about the people within Somaliland that makes them a distinct 'political and cultural community'

Being SOMALI is a race not a nationality. Somaliland is my nationality and SOMALI is my race.
