History of Maydh
According to some experts, the neighborhood of Maydh was first populated by non-Somali groups like the Galla. Later, Somali ancestors came to the area, the best documented of these was Sheikh Isahaq (Sheekh Isaxaaq), who, according to tradition, moved to Somalia from Arabia in the 12th or 13th century CE. Sheikh Isaaq is considered to be the founding father of the large Isaaq clan that primarily inhabits the Somaliland region of Somalia, as well as Djibouti and the Ogaden. Sheikh Isaaq's domed tomb is also located here.[1] The graves of the ancestors of the Issa and Gadabuursi clans, whose territories are several hundred miles away, are also located nearby.[2] As of 2010, Maydh is settled by the Habar Yoonis lineage of Isaaq.
It's interesting to note in the book futah al habasha they mention Maydh's inhabitants as being Harti, so my question is what happened to those hartis were they pushed out of Maydh?

Re: History of Maydh
Granpakhaliif, that map is wrong because it doesn't include somaliland controlled areas such as Dararweyne, Bohol, Oog, etc and further south and east.

Re: History of Maydh
The map is old and reflects 2003 - 2007 borders.
The Sanaag borders are the same, with all Warsangeli territories falling under Puntland.
Dulbahante regions are mostly autonomous and under the control of local clans or warlords loyal to Somaliland, except a strip of land between Garowe and Lascanood that is a buffer zone, it includes areas like Taleex and Boocame.

Re: History of Maydh
Somaliland aggressors in Sool are just Dulbahante political opportunists, they have no reason to go to Garowe. And if Riyaale tries to push that agenda on them, Abdullahi Yusuf will return from Yemen and finish his journey in Hargeisa.

Re: History of Maydh
The Tigre people are a decent people that work for the interest of their ethinc group so is the people of somaliland and the people of Puntland, don't sell us the southern phobia about ethopia, there is no such a thing as Ethopia. Its made of different ethnic groups which each has its own interest, and somaliland will serve and seek its interest regardless what happenes in the south or any where else.

The map is accurate in terms of conflicts between Warsangeli and Gadbursi/Isaaq whenever they head into Sanaag.
