The greatest African footballer ever (better than George Weah who is the only African player to have won the world player of the year title) is armed with statistic he alone (something no any other player has ever done it) owns.

What is it?

True, but drogba will never acheive as much as eto, hence why eto'o will go down as a legend and probably the greatest african player ever.

Drogba?

Forget about Eto'o, i think Jay Jay and Abedi Pele are better than him.

Axident

There you go...back to back trebles. No any other player in the history of the game has ever won trebles twice let alone in 2 consequtive seasons.

Unlike Drogba. Eto is a team player and was willingly to sacrifice his goal scoring for the greater team. Unlike Drogba, who cried about a penalty in the final day on the EPL title.
They are two different types of player, but Eto is the better striker,

3 Champion Leagues titles, 2 Champions League final goals.

Nah as an overall player, i.e. if you compare individual attributes drogba is better. Drogba has him beat on finishing, shooting, ariel, strength, set plays, etc and most of the attributes that make up a striker. But Eto'o will go down as a greater player.

I stopped reading there. Eto is much a better finisher. Eto'o stands up in big games while Drogba clowns around

No way eto is more clinical. He is def a good finisher, but misses more chances than drogba. Eto played in a team with ronaldinho, messi, xavi, ineista where at least 4-5 chances were created for him almost every game and he certainly didnt score 4-5 goals a game. Also Eto was most successful in spain, where defending is absolutley awful. Was he able to replicate the same form and amount of goals for inter milan? nope he only scored 12 league goals, compared to drogba who scored 29 in a much more competitive league. That alone speaks volume. In international football, drogba is by far much better, he is a talisman for ivory coast and even though eto is cameroons all time top scorer legends like roger milla have criticsed etoo

Nobleman is a not so bad expert in these kind of things but i think Oxidant is right when he says Eto'o is a better finisher than Drogba. Eto'o is faster and way more skillful of the two which makes him more deadly near the goal. Eto'o used to score 30+ a season for several years whereas Drogba averages 10-15 a season except for this season.

And the reason why Eto'o performance declined in Italy is because of two reasons 1) players who go to Italy after playing La Liga usually find it difficult to adopt to the Italian style of football 2) he wasn't playing in his natural position so that is why he never scored many goals this season. Oxidant is also right when he says Eto'o always shines at big games more than Drogba.

Nobleman, u gotta take into account that this year Eto'o was playing on the wing, and it was Milito who was playing center. While Drogba always plays in the central striker, so just because of that would make Drogba score more, cause he's right in front of the goal.

I'm not saying Drogba is lesser of the 2 strikers, but u gotta put that into account. Who knows how many goals Eto'o would have scored if he was playing Central striker.

Fair point from you and shirib. But I'd certainly take drogba ahead of eto'o today even though drogba is older and so would about any other manager. Drogba is also good with set pieces and has put away a fair few free kicks. In my opinion eto'o only has him beat on pace, but cant come near him in many other attributes. Also drogba fired an average team marseille to the uefa cup final, where as eto'o was sidelined by real madrid who once owned him.
