Vice President urges opposition parties

HARGEISA (Somalilandpress) — Vice-Presidential Candidate Mr. Ahmed Yusuf Yassin warned opposition parties and their supporters against inciting violence during the on going campaigns period.

Speaking at freedom park on Thursday, he thanked all residents of Hargeisa especially the ruling party supporters who had turned up at the campaign rally for their support and trust for the ruling party in this coming presidential elections which is expected to be held on 26th June 2010.

Later on he held a press conference at the presidential Palace where he thanked the ruling party supporters for their loyalty.

Somalilandpress reporter, Mr. Abdiqani Baynah who was at the venue quoted the vice-president: “at the end of this, let me just emphasise again. All eyes are on Somaliland elections which should be free and fair,” he said.

There was a more ambitious view on the Somaliland case which is seeking her recognition from the international community and has a hard-earned reputation for stability in a turbulent region.

Foreign media reported that the polls will be a test for political stability in the poor country.
