I think we can all agree that Knaan wasn't waving the flag around because of his heighten sense of nationalism and love for Somalia. But, rather, because of the convenience of the flag in appealing to the people of the Somali peninsula. He could have so easily have chosen something else but it seems that the flag was his choice for this occasion. As far as I am aware, Knaan is politically neutral and his ''flag moment'' was for the people and not any political organisation.grandpakhalif wrote:Did you feel left out when your imaginary flag was left out?marcassmith wrote:Nice interview. As an independent and fair-minded musician, he has the right to make music about whatever he chooses. If only, he was able to film his documentaries/music videos in Somalia. I don't need to remind you that he was recently in Hargeisa. Subsequently, making the error of portraying even the city of Hargeisa as a lawless place to please his record producers. K’naan is an opportunistic and his success is hinged on the portrayal of Somalia as a place of war and poverty.grandpakhalif wrote:That's why he made a song called Somalia.
