Qabiil is the curse that plagues.
How is it meaningful to you in the sense you would want someone of your clan to be in power or have friends from only your clan at the expense of others? What does that do for you? It does nothing and when you look at your real life, you see how meaningless and even regressive it is as applied extremely in the motherland. Does this mean you can't want good for your parent's homelands within homelands? Absolutely no, but neither should that come before merit. If a Xawaadle and a Darod-Sade-Marehan-Abadir Muuse-Yusuf Matan-Khalaf Hussein-Farah Ugaas-Maxamed Siyaad Diini man were to contest for the local mayorship of Garbaharey city and the Xawaadle was more qualified, he would get my vote. My evolution is complete, have the rest of my Snet brethren even begun this self-reflection journey?

Re: Qabiil is the curse that plagues.
I believe the issue can be academic here in the west because people can be independent of their clan, in the social context, security context and economic context.
In Somalia people still rely on their clan for a livelihood and for security, and it is not socially acceptable, like it is in the west, to be independent from one's family and to "mind your own business".
I believe this is something AbdiWahab252 mentioned once as an oncoming conflict between those who have seen the benefits of living in a meritocracy, and those who respect what basically amounts to aristocracy.
This isn't just a Somali problem, in Britain it took centuries to chip away at the impregnable class system and the country is still technically a monarchy with a house of lords.
Essentially before Somalia was colonized, then hammered into a Liberal Democracy, then jimmied out of that and re-hammered into a Socialist Dictatorship, Somalia was a feudal patchwork of kingdoms. The elite of these kingdoms was the family of the king, like in all feudal societies, who were the imams, the governors, the judges, and the soldiers and military commanders of the kingdom. The further away from the king one is in their genealogy, the lower their station. This is the basis for all feudal class systems, from Japan to Norway.
With all that hammering, the Republican Dictatorship, the Liberal Democracy and the society have all cracked and broken. Feudal systems don't just go away, because power and wealth have been handed down along lines of descent for a thousand years.
There is no fix for Somalia, because Somalia is a recent invention that has yet to be realized. People discussing fixing Somalia need to realize that it was never really constructed in the first place, it survived on a wave of post-colonial nationalism, was held aloft for a time by a massive influx of foreign aid, and then the aid dried up and the nationalism faded and then the various kings, imams, generals, judges and soldiers remembered they used to be in charge, but there were not enough thrones for them all anymore, rather than dozens upon dozens there was just one, and they all fought over it.

if your sentiments are true, you should support Somaliland, the only place
in somalia that is trying to become a genuine democracy.
The isaaq are willing to share power with all other clans in the borders of Somalialnd.

Gurey for a guy who's well educated in this cesspool, you sure are corrupted by qabyaalad somehow. Voltage I have been also doing much thinking and the last straw was pulled during a discussion about somali politics amongst youngsters that I observed. I no longer believe any form of qabiil can benefit our society and every structure of it has to be destroyed. It might take a life time but Im willing to do my part in speeding up the process.

"One of the myriad dangers Awil faces is constant gunfire between his squad and another group of government soldiers from a different clan. The Somali government is racked by divisions from the prime minister’s office down to the street.
“I’ve lost hope,” said Sheik Yusuf Mohamed Siad, a defense minister who abruptly quit in the past week, like several other ministers. “All this international training, it’s just training soldiers for the Shabab,” he added, saying defections had increased. "

I am bieng a realist,
we cannot quit qabiil cold turkey.
the best approach is to create conditions in which it withers and dies a natural death....
Events in somaliland are leading towards this..
all the three political parties enjoy support from all the sub clans..
even though politics is still qabiil based, this is slowly decaying.
