wa'aleykum assalam,

Approach the parents. You can offer other things too, like help with their homework. Sports tournaments etc.

I always thought somali youth are good at keeping their language. Better than oromo kids anyway.

Defly consulting with they're parents is a good start

Best way to attract the youth for educational purposes, always include candies and sweets, that always allure's their interest, From their on out it shouldn't be that hard.

yeah your first approach should be to seek permission or approval from the children's parents.
These naughty children should know, things such as the Somali culture, the Somali history and as you mentioned the Somali language. And in fact not forgetting Sheeko Sheeko, Sheeko xariiro...Bari Hore waxaa Jiri Jiray......... would be be advantageous

by the way,no matter what accent you speak, don't allow anyone to discourage that you are from reer xamar, or from Burco, or from north eastern Kenya. What matters is, ....are you friendly to children? do you understand their feelings, how funny are you to make them laugh? all these things are very important....
Nasiib Wacan Sxb!!!!

I'm currently taking a somali class at my school and the professor is a Reer Waqooyi man. He teaches us everything there needs to be known about the Somali language in all accents, so having a certain accent is not important.

Also, you can't lure kids with sweets/candies...it is not good.

No Offence but i doubt any parents will trust you with their children, first and formest you have to get to know the parents before you ask them anything. And you better be very respcted, good mannerd person oo ilaahy ka baqaya.Hadi o samirku kugu yar yahy iyo dulqaadashdo ciyaal soomliyeed ha isugu dhawaan.
