Would be good to see a successful project-Gedo

Post by oldenglish »

SOL- topic: If the Gedo community can pull this off, which is highly possible if managed right. This airport, small, could probably be the largest

Gedo's diaspora community needs to get more active; all I hear on this site from the likes of Voltage is 100 reasons why not to invest back home. Most of them have come to exaggerate dangers back home, when in fact Gedo has always been and still is far safer than Bari.

both of you are totally right. !! btw the airport project stagnated, they collect vast sums of money but didnt show any signs of progress.

the reason behind why Sade diaspora has avoided both the political and the developmental engagement are many and can take several pages to discuss, but it is all centered around the atrocities that took place in the civil war where the Sade population was collectively attacked by everyone, killing houndred of thousands and evicting the rest.
unlike other Somalis Sade population was concentrated in cities and not villages, therefore we feel less attached to our tribal regions than you guys. along with Rer Xamars and others the overwhelming majority of Sade have grown to become more politically mature and nationalistic ever since the formation of Somalia, this process intensified during the 21 year Kacaan rule than ever before.
now there is a lot of confusion amidst Sades, the tribal strucuter we had used prior to Somalia made Sade a ruler of their coresponding regions but this structure has been disassembled by modern Politics without leaving the people with anything incase of collapse.

wether to backtrack or work with something new it is up for the new generation. the generation before will be more interested in waiting for a united Somalia than dealing with tribal regions, the fact that they grew up in a state with law&order adds to their lack of interest in makeshift tribal functions. to be honest i hate their attitude but it is the reality, just like the fact that we face huge challenges in our region that lacks basic infrastructure.

the main progress for Sade rural deegaans will come from those who live there and not their diaspora. the diaspora will disolve in whatever place they are living in, investing hard currency mostly in states such as Kenya, Syria, Tansania etc. at most they will passively observe the political climate of Somalia.

I'm sure a few forumers from Gedo or close have mentioned some projects they were involved or promoting there.

Building skyscrapers you got the money for that.

Really and truly Somalia is depressing, I only feel sorry for the people left behind and their living conditions thats why I am pro-development of my towns and specifically the ancestral town Im from: Hadaaftimo.

Generally Somalis in the diaspora like to forget the ones back home and see them as a burden. Qabil isnt really big with Somalis in general in the diaspora, majority of them dont care whats happening to their villages today. And due to the political instability of the South I see why the people of Gedo wouldnt be completely dedicated in development because of the proximity of war zone regions.

What Somalia is missing especially in the North is private foreign investments that can develop various sectors in Northern Somalia.

i just explained how Sade diaspora are not interested in tribal regions, the fact that we are not physically in contact with the region and have not been so for generation for most of us has escalated this process of losing touch with the survival instinct of Tribalism. with heavy personal loses in Somalia and a detachment from Tribal regions people just choose to move on and live their life, they simply do not see the picture you guys see of HOME= Puntland or Makhir but Home = broken Xamar/Kismaayo/Hargaisa or many other random places in Somalia outside of Tribal dominance. we are houndred of miles away from sucessful tribal meetings, the fact that some of us even show up to such meetings is an achievement to us Lol.

despite the general lack of interest, there are many who invest in Somalia therefore it would be a good idea to leverage the unity we enjoy and make many more additional inter-sub-clan business cooperations.

inshallah it will work if the Youth also gets more actively involved, in Northern Somalia the Youth are key players in many modern formalities and incentives which really helps improve social and economic conditions and hope for their coresponding settlements.

foriegn investment is something that would do wonders but relies hugely on a History of peace and stability, this is not likely to happen anywhere in the South simple as, it would even be unrealistic to expect that anytime soon in the North. Dude We are all from Somalia aka Alshabab aka Pirates aka."the next big thing".. Lol.

sign of foriegn investment would be Somaliland getting recognized, even that would mean just a small step as they are too within the region.

How are the majeerteen any different from Mareexaan? Just look at the MJ members here, none of them were born in Puntland. Listen closely at the way the former president cadde muuse speaks, he has a classic reer xamar accent, faroole use to be a high ranking officer at the National Bank. Marka the majority of us are not from Puntland even our parents were raised in Koonfuur, that didn't stop them from building their ancestral home

Insha allah better times will come for all somalis :som:

I think we should invest in our regions and should not wait for a central Somali government. If Somali government returns, the most it will do for a decade will be security. Those of us in the diaspora and those back home should work together to develop our regions backhome. Since there is a peace in Gedo, it makes sense to invest it very heavily. Even if you are opposed to the current rulers, take advantage of the peace that prevails and created those much needed infrastructure.
