2 soccer mad Bantu youths commit suicide

Two Kenyan Bantu-fufu fryers have committed suicide in the coastal city of Mombasa following the 2 July loss of the Brazilian national football team to the Netherlands in the ongoing World Cup tournament in South Africa.


Kenyan privately-owned TV station NTV reported on 3 July that the two were supporters of Brazil.


One died by jumping into the Indian Ocean, while the second youth hanged himself in the town`s Mwandoni estate.


The deaths occurred on the same day when two other football fans died in the capital Nairobi following a pub brawl related to the Ghana-Uruguay match, Kenyan privately-owned radio station Capital FM website reported on 3 July. The first victim of the fighting was stabbed in the stomach and died on the spot while his attacker was lynched by a mob at a bar in the outskirts of Nairobi.


On 22 June, Kenyan privately-owned daily newspaper The Standard website reported that a secondary school boy was beaten to death outside a bar in the Kenyan capital after differing with his colleagues during a World Cup match.


The 18-year-old student was killed following a dispute over the World Cup match between Brazil and Ivory Coast.

This is the downside of being a hardcore Brazil fan like myself. Other people don't understand it but we don't take a loss by the national team so lightly. It pains us so much when we see the Brazil team that gives so much joy to so many around the world through their beautiful football lose. This is not something that happens often but when it does, we feel so bad.

It is every Brazilian's favourite national team and everyone else's second favourite national team. It is the team that gave us great entertainers like Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Denilson, Roberto Carlos, Romario, Bebeto, Alex, Kaka, Maicon, Cafu, Robinho and many others. We can't accept them to fail. Unfortunately, some people can't understand they are only human and humans fail sometimes...that's why you hear about people committing suicide in Brazil and all over the world when the team loses.
