Political Landscape in Somalia has changed a lot

Somalia: conflicts within and against the military regime
By P Gilkes - Review of African Political Economy, 1989

"In Somali political terms, however, he lacks clan backing, coming from a insignificant group. Somali politics since independence have revolved around the major clans; the Dolbahunta, Gadabursi, Hawiye, Issak, Majerteen, Marehan, Ogaden and Warsangeli."

Now it is all about three major clans:

1. Harti, (Majerten, Warsangeli)
2. Hawiye (Abgal and HabarGidir) and
3. Isaaq (Habaryonis, Habarjeclo and Hawar-awal.)

Groups of religious extremists have no say in Somalia unless they renounce violence and join the internationally Somali government.

No VP, but he does a lot.

VP is an assistant position. He advise and helps the president but he aint a decision maker. But IlkJir is very influential and has three departments under him.

The police and the army is under him. Local regional and district governments is under him. He controls 20% of the Bosaso port revenue and he as well heads Rural developments.

Read ICG report.

Somalia is doomed. Between it seems the Majarteens and their con-friends over in Austrailia are looking for a way to get into Western Bari with their Shabab screams.

I'm praying Garowe burns tonight

OE, I suggest you don't heed Allpuntland News. It's run by a Mugdi Mudug fella who hates Maakhir.

Galkayo is falling apart. Its people live in constant fear of politically motivated killings and rape. So they Mudug guy wishes the same thing for Bosaaso and western Bari.

Faroole knows this and he won't play with fire.

Faroole can whip sh.it what do people from Garowe -Galckayo and Eyl have to do with Bosaaso. This war will be met at their doorstep. I've been saying this for long, never trust Dabaycos and the actions on ground are a reality. Western Bari Reer Maakhir are major stake holders in the existence and development of Bosaaso and if it leads to curfews and blockades it is the envitable.

I know for a fact that Dabaycos will cry terrorism, use Brydens report as they themselves are Pirates listed in the report themselves.
Reer Maakhir militias are stationed in Bari and will easily rid Bosaaso of PL.

Cirwaaq, Maakhiris export Tuna, Livestock, textiles, building materials, some minerals like Tin and Beverages. And they import so many things, the largest being weapons and ammunition and fuel.

OE, c'mon, why do you want to see the break-out of war in western Bari, particularly Bosaso. Can't you see the stakes are higher, that we have so much to lose than gain. We get the bulk of Maakhir Business concentrated in Bosaaso.

We should wise enough to debunk the trap by others. Enemies within who pray for the undoings of all we have built since the start of tribal war in Xamar. We can't afford to lose what we have gained from Somalia's war economy.

Can we?
