Have You Ever Had a Promotion Without Pay Increase?
I was just promoted to a Lead position but no increase in pay. So basically, I will have additional responsibilities but not extra pay. That sucks in my view but since the economy is not doing well at this point, common sense tells me I need to keep what I have. Fellow Somalis, please share what you thoughts are and if you ever found yourself in a similar situation.
I also need to hear from you how you see the daily 9-5 job, fixed income, same routine for a long time, and if this is something that you have done for a very long time. If you were unsatisfied with this route and changed it, please also share what your experiences were.
If you have started your own business in NA and Europe, please share it how you were your initial experiences? Keep it mind you are talking to a guy who has never run a business of his own before. I think I am fed up with the status quo and remaining in a box for longer than I have been.
Thanks.

That is what the financial industry does. You will see so many VPs and ASVPs, but they still make the same money as managers do.

S-D-M,
Seriously man, how do people do the 9AM - 5PM job for the rest of their life and be happy with it? I mean you can change jobs but in reality that is still 9-5 job and work for some one else. Tough economy does not help it either. I know these two Somalis who are trying to find a job for 8 months and I feel their pain and that is what really worries me but promotion without a pay, which is a killer to me also.
Financial industry? Are you in it? I am also tired of quarterly earning coming in and bingo the next thing you know is the axe is hitting people.

Economy is bad so that's probably why you haven't seen a raise in pay buy the fact that you got a lead position will allow you to get more money later on, and it will build your career.
Congrats man
9-5's ain't bad if you like your job, besides it has some nice benefits that being self employed doesn't

But the great thing about it is when the company does well, you get real great bonus. I mean real great.

Re: Have You Ever Had a Promotion Without Pay Increase?
To the topic starter, no, but why accept more responsibilities with the same pay, than again If you don't mind, than why not, at the end of the day it's all about what makes you happy so ma'ah, about the hours, 9-5 is the best especially if you enjoy doing what you do, personally I hate unpredictable hours.

Ok how is your Habar Kintir beesha doing since the beesha got owned by my brothers Fuaad Shangoole and Muktar Abuu Mansoor?Air Canada wrote:From being footsoldier to rising to the ranks of lieutenant colonel, congratulations, boy.udun wrote:I was just promoted to a Lead position.

I am also just wondering how you are doing with your common-law step-dad who happen to be the Ugandan General and your common-law brother-in-law Burundian General who is with your sista? Man, what are you doing here? I thought the calling was on you to hurry up and take the ice cream to the Burundian and Ugandan generals and their troops so they take it easy with your family.

As you continue to throw more cantarobaqash, karbaash like the one from adeer Cali Yusuf Keenadiid is there for you.
