Paradigm Paralysis...

Post by Cirwaaq »

Paradigm paralysis
the inability or refusal to see beyond the current models of thinking
.

Adam Smith's Powers of the Mind defines paradigm as how we perceive the world, water to fish. The paradigm explains the world to us and helps us predict its behavior. "When we are in the middle of a paradigm, it is hard to imagine any other paradigm."

A paradigm shift is a change to a new game, a new set of rules.

Who Changes the Paradigm?

- An older person shifting state of mind
- A young adult unaware of limitations
- A Maverick not enslaved by status quo
- The Tinker who is a habitual fiddler
- A pioneer with courage and intuition

This is the Paradigm EffectWhat may be perfectly clear and visible to one person is invisible to another because of differing paradigms.

One paradigm blinds you, deafens you etc to other possibilities and other paradigms. Old paradigms block ability to view new paradigms. New paradigms must get through filters of old. Paradigms can trap us into seeing the world in only one way; and how wrong experts can be because of that entrapment. Paradigms give a particular perspective and depending on ones perspective determines ones vision. What is obvious to one is not to another.

We need a Paradigm shift...

You know when you turn 360 degrees, you end up going round the circle back to where you first were. Why do we use such a phrase to signify change when you end up in the same spot. You end up the same place. Going round in a circle, ending up at the beginning, where you were, the same place. It's always annoyed me that English teachers didn't care enough to learn just a bit of Geometry so as not teach us things like this :?

I don't know about the Uk but I've always heard a 180 degree turn.

Some people smoke a little bit too much weed and decide to rant on here. I knew you were high when you said Adam Smiths power of the mind defines.

Say you were gonna do a 360 on a huge circle drawn on a football field, Say at the starting point u were facing south and once you got to 180 degree (exact opposite of starting point), you slightly changed body position facing north now but totally still on the circle to complete the 360 motion, and once done, even though you completed the circular motion and is back on the original starting point, you're facing a different direction with your back turned against your old self/beliefs and now facing the new direction with complete change and a fresh outlook in life.

I told u I had ur back seemeyer

Sister Basar you require a paradigm rehabilitation :!:

I do no share in your habitual paradigm even if you percieve all on the forum as having a common habbit to you within the confines of your paradigm.

Lol @Advo

PO a farmer does not create the grains he uses to saw his fields.

BV figurative besides usually individuals who fail to get another job settle for becoming teachers. Is it then difficult to see a pattern of devolution...

Gobbledygook of the highest order.

The list you give (and Mr Smith gives) is one that people who like to pat themselves on the back use. The one most important thing that causes paradigm shifts are EVENTS.
You notice it with people (who may happen to be old, young, mavericks, tinkers or pioneers) that used to argue that Al Qaida or Hamas’s suicide bombings were legitimate , now vehemently arguing against all forms of suicide bombings because Al Shabab bombed a university in Somalia or killed football viewers in Kampala.
