
I see you are singing a 'Reformist tune'---- u can't interpret Quran like a piece of Law legislature. It is clearly stated in Quran the guildlines for a complete and accpeted salat, and here you are--preaching doubt and democracy clause-when the issue is black and white.
The alcohol clause example u gave is perfect. Corrections first-- it is not 40 days but 7 days. And yes, within these 7 days u MUST refrain from performing salat while the alcohol is still in your body. Maybe i am wrong about this, we can certainly ask a sheikh, but my informed guess is--u need to follow the guidelines. ALlaah is most merciful, he can forgive u, but u need to wait to be pure to worship and perform salat, its matter of respect and humility, not democracy and translation.
