I wonder why Digil & Mirifle are found places like Puntland in large numbers but not Hawiye clans.

What conflict have D & M faced recently? Their neighborhoods in the capital aren't nearly as damaged by war as the Hawiye neighborhoods. The wars in Bay/Bakool have been very low-intensity.

I don't get what's prompting lots of D & M to flee north.

Wallaahi as a fellow Muslim and a Somali, I am really bothered by this. Where is the Muslinimo? Where is the Soomaalinimo? I think it has been a poor judgment on the part of the PL leadership to undertake such a massive expulsion of fellow Somalis. I hope the religious establishment in PL, the traditional elders, and civil society will speak out against this and deal with the underlying causes that caused this expulsion. Yes, there is the issue of security and PL has a legitimate concern to safeguard its security but why undertake such a massive expulsion?

D/M and Somali Bantu (Jareer Weyne) communities should have been dealt with cautiously and authorities should have demanded from the two communities to work with the authorities to find any potential trouble makers. Actually, all of the migrants from these two communities appreciated the support and welcoming they received from reer PL. I am not sure where the disconnect occurred. This is definitely creating deep wounds within the Somali society.

With respect to the issue of Al-Shabaab, all Somalis have presence and I am not sure what singling out these communities will bring.

Is Puntland kicking out people just for the mere fact that one comes from these Clan's if so than i have a few question's.

1) How does one know this person from these Clan's unless they look like a Bantu?

2) Second do most of these people stay in Camp's sheltered by NGO if yes than wouldnt Puntland loose Income from the NGO's.

3) Ironic that when the ethiopian's invaded there was a heavy Influx of Refugee's from Mogadishu into Djibouti and are housed in Camp's provided by the NGO and yet they didnt bother stopping in Puntland or Somaliland and bypassed both to a much harsher climate.

Finally i think this is a huge mistake by Puntland because this is actually how Al Shabab start's in places.
