lol

the saddest thing :| was this black girl .. beign sad about beign to dark , people telling her she was ulgy .. And how the pretty black american women in media where the light skinned ones sidaa tyra, beyonce iyo rihanna oo kaale ( I personally dont live in america , so i dont know)

It made be think we somali women are kind of the same , in a way . lol

what do the somali women see as beautiful , or ideal body ?

The areas where Im from they say the most beautiful . skin color is --> mariiin .. or in english marlin-brown . reddish brown color ... there is not much obession about *caddaan*-nimo .lool

I really cant stand to be around girls who keep sayin..I'm ugly..I'm fat..etc...I just wanna slap them. Yes..I say I'm fat etc..but that's when it's that time of the month..markaas it's an exception I believe..lol but all year round? Nobody can give you value if you don't value yourself.

Also people who are really smart..but they keep saying they're dumb or stupid. They know they're smart..but always seeking praise iyo attention and watnot.

Beauty to me means radiance, that inviting aura of confidence and kindness. It has very little to do with the actual body.

For men beauty is probably very physical and women always try to attract and please men so problemka halkas oo ka bilowda in my opinion. When you can't decide for yourself and look around to see what beauty is supposed to look like. They bombard us with images of women who fit the males perception of beauty, young impressionable girls grow up watching this and we are surprised when they want a boob/nose job?

those with inner beauty, congratulations, you are above petty social order...i envy you in your state of nirvana...

political correctness aside and to the rest in the mold of social call myself included....

beauty is still skin deep...

innately we are social creatures, it is very difficult to break free from the trappings of the social call/order, that is why we will find ourselves conforming to the societal consensus for beauty...if this means, i gotta keep skin flawless, my hair healthy and soft, my body slim and my teeth white..then so be it..

ps, how many girls in here would walk out the door without looking herself in the mirror?

Zuli there is a difference though between taking care of yourself because you want to like what you see in the mirror and making yourself into something so that other people will look at you and go wow she's pretty the moment you step out the door. One is self aware and maintains her own standards, the other is an insecure attention seeker.

Not really.. Unlike the madows (AA etc) We Somalis whether light or dark.. still have the same features. And what i've noticed is the darker the Somali is.. the softer their hair is :|

I personally don't think that someones skin colour makes them pretty or ugly. Beauty is in the eyes of the onlooker
