What Are You Reading Now?
Salam alaykum.
Let us tell, what are we reading? And what do we think about that book?
Good? Bad?
Myself:
I'm reading now the book by Karen Armstrong: Muhammad: A Biography Of The Prophet(bpuh).

I have also read that book. Karen Armstrong is Orientalist. Her knowledge on Islam is not wholly objective.
I am currently reading:
Very long and detailed but matures with each chapter. So far!

Interested read for a succesionist like yourself Mr Smith. What is your view on the Nigeria region fighting for its autonomy against the wishes of the Nigerian state and how it was forced back into the union with the Ibo's being treated as second class citizens afterwards?marcassmith wrote:I have also read that book. The forced union has caused more harm then good, the population is questioning the forced unity and there is constant debate with regards to the creation of 3 seperate states. They are on the verge of an implosion due the enforced act of union. Most feel it was a bad decision.
There are constant conflicts of genociadal proportions... the eventual outcome is a 3 state solution.

Re: What Are You Reading Now?
Half of a yellow sun is a good read and well written book as Somalilander who has Igbo friends and colleagues here in London I learned a lot about their history and I was somewhat sympathetic to them because I have those real life Igbo friends. I would also recommend Things Fall Apart by Chinuea Achebe a great book about Igbos life before and during colonisation.
However, I found that I identified and sympathised more with the Hausas in half a yellow sun because they are Muslims, even though I have more Igbo friends then Hausa diinta comes before friendship!

Patriot, you can find the PDF file for that book and some others you may enjoy at feedbooks.com . Here is the link to the above referenced book. Just click on where it says PDF on the right side and it should open automatically.

Just literature anthologies (Romantic, Victorian, and Modern periods)...mainly British. American lit became popular in later years...but they are insteresting as well.
