Girlfriends

Post by BlackVelvet »

The number of times I have heard a girl say that she has more male friends than female friends or prefers to hang out with her male friends than her female friends is, come to think about it, a bit disappointing. I used to be one of those girls myself lakin there is a limit to how much hanging around a grown Muslim can do with guy pals.

Marka is the problem that we attract the wrong type of female friends, subconscious drama lovers, or is it that most females just don't make good friends, competition rules, jealousy, bitchiness and the like?

What's the problem? Why do we all complain about each other? Is a gay pal a good compromise?

You have never had a male friend? Ever? Even as a kid? Did you go to a girls' school :?

You do with a friend what you personally like to do. When I was younger that was hanging around the school compound before tution lessons, playing rounders on Fridays, going to the chips place, causing trouble and insulting teachers behind their backs. It was just more fun doing stuff like that with the guys and it was cool back in the day when you could count yourself as one of the guys, we never went shopping and you are acting dumb when you suggest sleep overs right?

Markaad so weynatid you keep in contact with a few and meet up sometimes but it's just not the same.

I still can't believe you've never had a male friend

My background is quite diffrent then urs walaal..i never had any Male friends and yes i went to girl school, used to liv in saudi arabia and then later on when i moved here i end up in a class with only females..lucky me i guess :?

I grew with the idea not being close to any male who is not a cousin, brother or uncles.

As for sleeping over...well just playing with you

I have technically never had male friends who I 'hang' around with, but back in the days at college and secondary school days I had male acquaintances. We used to hang around as a big group, mainly in Secondary school, so I've never had 'male' friends to be honest. But I know males are less hassle, buuq and drama then females, and because of that their company would be more enjoyable. The reason why their is a limit is because sooner or later, you will both realise this is other person, my friend is of the OPPOSITE sex, lol. Also, the older you get the more the tension, probably due to the fact that they become more manly and you more feminine, generally speaking.

Ever since I started my schooling, which was at age 5ish or older, I have only been to mixed-sex schools.

Xilwa,

Lucky you wallah, my sisters went to girls-only secondary schools and they did so well in terms of school grades. One is studying pharmacy and will inshaAllah became a pharmacist, and the other a doctor.InshaAllah

Warsan That's the good thing though, there is always a limit to how close you can get with a male friend, you're not his sister. You see each other when you see each other and there are no hard feelings and no one to kool kooli. Actually come to think of it maybe I just dont have the patience to make friendships with females work  You wont believe, I asked my younger brother if he has females friends and he's like NO. Girls don't like hanging out with each other why would I want to hang out with them?

Xiinle I liked that show but they were all a bit odd :?

Saudi Arabia that makes sense. I spent a few years in girls' only schooling it's not too bad but I swear there was at least one epic "disagreement" between the girls every term.

I hate girlfriends...I hang out with women friends, big difference. Girlfriends are obsessed with men, compete on looks/attention and are generally bad for iman and self worth as you start competing with them on stuff that you shouldnt. Basically competing over frivolous things instead of sharing knowledge, good times and sheeko micno leh. Fuck girlfriends and get you some women friends. As for male friends, once you mutually agree that no f-king will ever take place between the two of you and you have shit in common, its a blessing and a half...they have really introduced me into the fucked up male pysche, especially when they talk about women with you.

Who becomes friends with girls, without ever wanting to tap that?

You hit the nail on the head with this sentence!!! Aniga, that is my personal experience...when the year 09 started, my new year's resolution was to make more male friends...before that I had only one...(I had a really good reason for that lol--trust me!!!) Anyways after a month or two, I was hanging out with a crowd of guys....N one other girl...we would have discussions ranging from relationships, politics, men/women, religion, history...etc etc...MashAllah they were an intelligent bunch, N Alxamdulilah while I was with them....I've analysed the male psychology through them...I gained a lot!! However, there is a downer-part to almost everything around us...and in this case, men just like women...GOSSIP!!!! N wallahi they gossip just like women....I don't get it when people say....women gossip more than men or men don't gossip at all....which reminds of me that Somali proverb: Women for Gossip and men for tea (Nin waa shaah, dumarna waa sheeko)....which is absolutely, incredibly, and utterly wrong if you ask me!!!! Men have dramas, men have kutiri kuteens (hearsay), men are just like women expect they are just anatomically different....N they joke A LOT....they r less serious and more playful if that makes sense lol

So marka, I've decided the same year...a little before 2010 started, that I will stop hanging out with them...and just occationally see them when the time calls.... I've learned that...as I'm getting older...its much harder to be fully "friends" with guys cause we r simply not same...most guys from what I've noticed are into the fast life...so being friends with them...adigana waa ku taraaraxee that same lifestyle....speaking merely from experience :geek:

Horta, this may be a bit off tangent....I'm currently battling with myself....on whether I should continue being friends with these girls or not....I have no "good" girlfriends anymore! I hang out with two sets of girls...on one set, they always go to sheeshas, sometimes party, and are a bit too wild for me!!! N on the other, they r the epitome of Somali girls...they xan, xin, and talk about each other's back....they r the smarter and more intelligent bunch tho'...they all graduated from college and have careers...but its just that they r FAKE to each other N I HATE that...Dunnoe what to do

Mind you all that I was friends with these girls since middle school

Guys can be just as bad as females. The things they say about their females friends behind their back is disgusting. Anyway, I tend to prefer hanging around females than male mostly because of the comfort level. But now that I go to all female school the chances of me ever having "male" friends is very slim.
