The Results of the Constitutional Referendum in Somaliland

The counting of votes of the Somaliland constitutional referendum held on May 31, 2001 has been completed. The outcome of the referendum was provisionally announced soon after the completion of the counting process. The Results were officially announced two weeks later, on 14th June 2001, by the Chairman of the Supreme Court of Somaliland.

The total number of people who voted stands at over one million at 1,188,154. Of these, more than a million people, or 97% of the voters, approved the constitution with only 34,460, or 3% of the voters, voting against. All regions of the six Somaliland regions approved the constitution by landslide majority. A breakdown of the results is shown below by regions and districts.

Malukumawd saaxib I am not sure in 2001 , Dhulbahante was not a fan of puntland punltand only existed for 3 years the puntland administration didn’t even reach laascanood. Or much sool region but with xaabsade being fired by cigaal that’s when puntland came before that it was run by the locals who were friendly to Somaliland , soo wax walba filo

on voting day i went to caynaba with some friends and some 'somaliland' officials and even they didnt vote
