Titanic !

Post by Knight of Wisdom »

How many times have you guys watched it?

AND...

What was so "GREAT" about this movie? I've never understood why it had a burning sensation amongst the hearts, tongues, and minds of so many people !? :?

I've watched it from start to finish about 2 times. But the last scene, the ship going down and the 'don't let go...' bit I must have watched that at least 5/6 times. There's something really touching and entertaining albeit daft about the whole thing.

This movie's popularity amongst women proved and explained alot in women psychology.

The main purpose of Titanic was it is absolutely ok to be promiscuous, to lie and to cheat, how else would u explain a guy paying for his fiance and her moms first class trip, only to get cheated on with a low class poor kid who can hardly support himself let alone a family to raise.

Yet the nice wealthy man who would marry the cheating chick is made out to be a villain, while the young wh0re and the thief are hailed as remarkable love.

wikipedia:
"Billy Zane as Caledon Nathan "Cal" Hockley: Cal is Rose's 30-something fiancé, and serves as the main antagonist of the film. He is arrogant and snobbish, and the heir to a steel fortune in Pittsburgh. He becomes increasingly embarrassed, jealous, and cruel about Rose's relationship with Jack"

Advo......

What is your problem? R u purposely trying to counter disagree with a universal truth? I mean, i realize u r deathly somali tradition patriot, and i do realize in your own farah camel mind---u compare rose and her rich but 'older' bethrowed husband as the somali equivalent of a somali innocent girl in somalia being abused and bethrowed to a stinky useless old man in the name of 'daqaan' of tradition. r u angry Advo?

I only watched Titanic one time in the cinema and never watched it again. Dont get me wrong, it is a wonderful, amazing moving movie. Well, that is until i discovered i was deceived terribly by my first emotional ignorance. Amidst the shinking ship, the commotions, the film maker sold us a most terrible lie in the history of cinema. It was a lie of a chubby girl making a big deal about being loved by an extremely Not fat, good looking jock. That was the first flaw, and the second flaw? How the Fck can Leo die in the end? I mean, i also do understand the beauty of Leo dying. Perhaps that is also a master stroke to maintain the illusion of love to remain forever.(Jack will not live happily after with Rose because he is dead, and he wont wake up one day and discover she is chubby)

I think the reason the movie is resonating to public and why most women i know watched it more than 17 times is because of its modern idealism...its a modern story getting away from the old cinceralla story. In the Old Cinderalla story, Rose's husband plays as the handsome prince Charming, rich and handsome, well handsome enuf, who comes to save her impoverished mother and herself. Instead rose rejects the system, thereby the society, distiguishes herself from her pathetic ambitioned mother.A defiant teenager who will not be trapped, and ultimately sacrificing everything for love. Love concurs all. (puke)

But to sober unabashedly truthful audience like myself---i saw the 'Lie' that i was talking about in the earlier, i saw it as a ridiculous fantasy of a fat girl being in love with an incrediably handome boy, who is NOT in her league, and who somehow trapped us a in a sinking boat , bothered our emotions and let us forget the great elephant in the room. No,i dont mean be the chubby rose. I mean all the comotions prevent us from seeing clear, that this is not realistic and simply a fantastic unlikely fantasy. Well, this explains why the killed Jack in the end. Kudos to the film-makers for becoming sober in the end. The fat girl didnt get the boy in the end. They couldnt bring themselve to pairing them and honoring them with -happily ever after. After all, who wants to reward a fat girl?

So in the end, it was a beautiful what if fantasy that was ended appropriately- a fantasy only.? Fat people need love too.

I find it funny how men are distraught by women who have the characteristics of being a gold-digger. Rose proves in fact that "love" (if there is such a thing) not material wealth is better. Plus, Cal was abusive, and treated her subordinate. She wasn't with him because she cared about him, but because she had a controlling mother who only saw dollar signs.

Did you see what Cal did in the screen with the lifeboats? How low-class and ruthless, for a second there I thought he was a Somali male.

Basra, the writer of this thread was talking about Titanic, not your personal life! This isn't a time for an autobiography.

Miiksin every time you think of Titanic, foam comes out of your mouth. If nin-caadan with blonde hair came your way tonight, you'd drop-kick your husband and your 19 children.

I do hope for the sake of your sanity there will be a Jack for you. But sadly, this time when he dies it won't be because of bad circumstances, but of self-infliction.

Alluring@lol

U assume i am looking for a jack or love for that matter. I think love is for the weak and pathetic. I wish one day to write a book about the ultimate love of all. The love of Allaah swt. I want to write a novel where my heroine and hero aspire to nobel, emotionless existance where in the end, they are united in the love of Allaah and their Islam religion. Now, how majestic would that be?

Aren't you the same chickenhead that does the moonwalk every time someone dies in a tragic event?

But the question to ponder is how does your husband stay with you, imagine that poor man EVERY DAY AND NIGHT you talking about Jane Austin. Tell him I said "Keep hope alive".

First of all, WHY do u always remain livid and ANGRY OR FURIOUS when exchanging posts with me?> :o  I am sorry if i rub u the wrong way. Cant u be civil and normal with me?

FIrst of all, again---it is AUSTEN NOT Austin. Gosh how many times should i tell u this? :x Second of all, when i do 'moonwalk' evertime someone dies, its not because i am evil, its just that i automatically rejoice in it. Its the bad side of me which inshaalaah Allaah will cure me. Seriously, i accept it is my flaw. And beg Allaah forgiveness for it. Anyway---Alluring---i dont see why u always have to personally go after me --i mean seriously---is it my fault for u to stink of fat shiir? Uufff

I knew you were going to see Jane Austen spelled that way Austin, and I was wishing your heart would burst in anguish! Guess it didn't work,

Basra, I don't hate you. Actually I think you are rather funny, and I enjoy your writing. But, I also do not like the way you neglect your many children. I mean does a five year old really need to be fasting?

Don't let my comment inflate your already big head. I especially liked your theory that having hard timo equates to being implusive and dumb, the more harder your timo happens to be the more xaasid you are. You hit that right on the head (pun intended).

I was like "The whale might be right"
