Does it matter? I know a good chunck of the diaspora whose net is greater than half a mill a year and dont donate ziltch to Maakhir or have any intention of returning or being involved with it. Thats what has become of Reer Maakhir, while their are some self made millionaires back in Maakhir whose interest doesnt lay there -Ilo Tango, factories in Bosaaso-Laas Qoray-Hargeysa. None of which care for development.

What you also have to remember is that some of these funds are raised by their listed entities, so this is not Somali investments, its just somali managed. These guys do have some money but they can't fund these projects so they seek funds on the public markets, from private investors as well as loans from "islamic instititions" .
