Somaliland: Fact-finding committee returns back from Awdal

HARGEISA (SomalilandPress) — Somaliland’s information minister Mr. Abdillahi Jama Osman returned back from his fact finding mission with regards ONLF militia crossing through Somaliland to Ethiopia.

Mr. Osman who is a member of the committee that Mr. Siilanyo appointed to look into how 250 ONLF fighters were able to land on Somaliland coast and get transported within the Somaliland boarder to Ethiopia. The minister said that he met with local leaders and elders in Awdal and Salal regions who hosted them gracefully. He applauded the cooperation and solidarity the residents of both regions showed to the committee. The minister added, “everyone we met showed great patriotism and sense of duty to reveal the truth and fill the gaps of our investigation.”

When the Minister was asked about his trip he said w that “the residents of the coastal town were surprised and disappointed like we are on how 250 armed men traveled within the Somaliland borders. we traveled to different towns and we met with local people, officials, and military officials who cooperated with us fully.”

The minister did not give much detail about his investigation. He said that the committee will forward findings to the president when the investigation is complete. This committee was appointed by the president after 250-300 members of ONLF (Ogadan National Libberation Front) crossed to Ethiopia through Somaliland. The committee consists of cabinet members, including the Minister of Information and Minister of Defense, General Ahmed Haji Ahmed Adami. The committee returned to Haregeisa after traveling in Awdal and Salal regions in Somaliland.

Correction on Previous Story

The explosion resulted from water heater explosion and not from terrorist act. We rushed to print the story. We apologize to our faithful readers, who corrected us.
