Chaotic Bosaso Mosques
My rant toward Bosaso mosques!
This city is filled with mosques, alhamdulilah.mansha allah. They are in everywhere, as a matter of fact, you cannot pass a city block without seeing one. That's really good unless you live under them. All these mosques use very extremely laud outside speakers on their minarets and roofs for everything from prayers and and friday sermons, to lectures and other speeches. Can you imagine all that deafening speakers going off at the same time with different tunes. It is like hearing forcefully different radio stations with different programs at the same. You cannot even concentrate or follow at least one of the programs as they all hit your ears at the same time. I spoke with a couple of people about this and they all said are you crazy, how can you question what our ulumas are doing for the public. I may be wrong but I see this as another form of lawlessness. Can you imagine what the sick, children and elders go through every morning starting from around 3 AM. These mosques are in competition and many of them belong to different groups. They don't care about hospitals and other places where quietness is a must. The city is like that South African world cup when they all unleash their powerful speakers.
The city needs new ordinances dealing with noise pollution and public safety. I am thinking of writing to the mayor!

they should be regulated. i remember some people complained about that where i live and government agreed to remove outside microphones and made it indoor only at least for fajer prayers.
though still you can hear it but wasnt as laud as before.
government has to step in and do some thing about it. dont they have islamic affairs ministry?

hyper, these mosques need to be regulated walahi. even it interferes with your salat when you want to pray in your house.

Well if there is a mosque everywhere then they shouldn't have outdoor speakers. They should do it the traditional way, using only their vocal cords.

I think to have the azaan on speakers in a Muslim country is a must. There is just baraka in hearing the azhan subhanallah, but for lectures and other things they should limit them to just inside the masjids. But the roots for all the chaos you speak off is just fitnah and different masjids having ideological differences and each wanting to have their own leadership and oppositing the other. Some will even tell you not to pray in a cetain masjid b/c of the imam and what not. That is just dangerous, and it is the samething here in the US, where you have small communities(somalis), that have like three masjid( apartment sizes) and they are all having differences. I think it should be regulated by one religious umberalla (masjids in Somalia or the ones here in the US) and should have the same guidlines..idealistically speaking offcourse!!!
Ps I once wrote letters to different masjids in my area and spoke to the imaams, lets just say being a woman and with a intention to give direction didnt sit well with them. lool

ordinances, regulations, noise pollution, writing to the mayor

Re: Chaotic Bosaso Mosques
This is the reason behind all those little mosques. When ppl get frustrated with existing mosques they find ppl with similar interests and open their own.Ismahan123 wrote:Ps I once wrote letters to different masjids in my area and spoke to the imaams, lets just say being a woman and with a intention to give direction didnt sit well with them. lool
perfect - I'll fight to the end so that future expatriates live in harmony when they come to Somalia

I think lectures, and such is a bit over the top. I like the idea of the adhan though, that should be kept.
But waryaa, what do the locals think of the situation?

Why would you want to pray inside your house with a mosque so near?waryaa wrote:these mosques need to be regulated walahi. even it interferes with your salat when you want to pray in your house.
