I just tuned into VOA about this doctor's bio..One of his colleagues Shuuke was interviewed about Dr. Mohamed. Shuuke, unlike most Dhabayocos, said the Dr. Mohamed grew up "Wadanka Ogadenia". In Puntland it is actually crime to refer Ogadenia anything other than Kililka 5aad ee Ethiopia.

Now back to the subject, Dr. Mohamed grew up in Ogadenia but in reading some other bios about him, some people say he was born in Mudisho.

Does anyone know anything about this man?

There is not one single clan in Somalia that is not found in Ogadenia. Ogadenia is a land for Somali clans. Don't be fooled by the name of the country.
My question was why would some websites say he was born in Muqdisho and others say Ogadenia? Are we really that bad to record the history of perhaps one of the very first Somali medical doctors?

Dr Mohammed Adan Sheikh, allah yarxama, was Celi Xussein of Marehan and was born in the region of Wardheer in the Ogaden at a time when it was majority Marehan. His sub-clan also continue to mostly live on the other side of the border and were the same Celi in the last Celi and reer Bicidyahan war in that said region.

With that said, Dr Mohammed Adan Sheikh was one of the first trained Somali medical doctors and was prominent in both the democratic governments as well as the revolutionary government. His posts throughout his career were Minister of Information, Minister of Health, Minister of Culture, etc while retiring to be the president of the Somali Academy of Arts and Sciences right before the start of the war.

Reer Aw Maxamuud were one of the first Faradheers that settled in Mogadisho, If you will believe me they lived in Afar-irdoodka waa asal reer muqdisho, most of them well educated..

Kambuli you are right, but I think Dr Mohammed himself was born in Wardheer even though he grew up in Muqdisho and went to school in Italy. He died today in Torino, Italy where he moved to after the civil war because it was his wife's hometown.

He was born near Galaadi according to the new BBC bio which I didn't see earlier this morning, so his clan location and his birth place match.
Remember Wardheer is a big region as it encompasses so many cities including Wardheer, Wa'afdhuug, Garloogube, Ubataale, Yucub, Qoriile, Caado, Leheloow, Miir-Khaliifo, Danood, Bookh, Galaadi, Afyaraado and so on....

This man deserves national award because a little boy who was born Baadiyaha Wardheer to become the first surgeon in Somalia is unmatchable.He is a national icon :up I always like people who beat the odds and barriers.

What I don't like is spoon-fed people who get recognition because of their family connections like the fat-boy who recently got fired. Another spoon-fed fatty is Ina-Nuur Bidaar whose father robbed money collected from the poor and suffering Somalis.
