You start by ceasing idolizing your clan and by treating fellow Somalis with mutual respect.

By distancing yourself from primitive ideologies that others have forsaken and abandoned. Why? Because they have failed them too.

By putting an end to a culture of knee-jerk defense of one's clan warlords.

By loving your people in faith and in creed.

By showing gratitude for being Somali through good deeds e.g. charity to your local mosque or by sending money to orphans, irrespective of their clan.

By stepping away from ignorance and evolving to another state of being a better citizen of the world.

Start with yourself, first.

By separating into states based on clans or political interests. A unified Somali state is just stupid.

It sucks to play dead, when we are still alive. Horta there is nothing called complete trust specially in politics, lakiin completing not trusting each other is not going to take us anywhere. It will only continue to prolong this ugly civil war. Other than the American Civil war, that was brought to an end by one siding winning the war, all other civil wars that has taken place in this world was brought to an end through negotiations, and reconciliations.

Stupid to who? To clan worshipers? Of course.

If other countries who have more diversity in population demographics can co-exist, why can't we?

Somalis of all clans have co-existed for hundreds of years, and they will continue to do so. It is this new thing that wasn't known to many Somalis called a "State" that was not constructed in a right manner to begin with which caused havoc. Having a dictator for 21 years, who put fear in the hearts of many Somalis, and driving up clan politics to new heights, has resulted in Somalis not trusting each other a single bit when it comes to political negotiations.

SB,

Sidaan yaa kuu diiday inaad marka kale u hadashid?

I think unification is necessary for our survival as a people. It doesn't have to be today, but in the long run, inshallah.

Maxa ii diiday the clowns on this forum.

Back to the topic at hand, unification cannot happen without trusting one another. Horta Politicians for the most part can not be trusted. I think a system that can be trusted needs to be put in place, with all the checks and balances that are needed. Some my friend like the American appointed President of ours Sheikh Sharif fought his Prime Minister, over the Constitution the base of government. The President wants more powers to himself, and the people fear the relapse of dictatorship, so we will refuse to empower his government. Once again more time and resources are lost in creating a piece of paper, which will hold the highest man in government accountable. In conclusion without an genuinely shared government and powers real unification is a stretch.
