Who knows the truth, how come we always blame the ladies. 6,000 USD for mehr should not be something that surprises us. The wadaad should have done his shukaansi beforehand and got to know the lady before the marriage. Btw, she may be short tempered and the authorities don't arrest someone simply 'cause he is accused of domestic abuse. What happens sometimes is some of the men beat the hell out of the women after they are attacked by them and since they are more stronger than the women, the women get hurt and when the police arrives all they see is a woman that her whole face has changed. Some men do Mohamed Ali Clay to their wives and it is possible that this guy you are talking about may have done that. On the other hand, there are women who exagerate their ordeal and accuse simple men due to their belief that women has so much freedom in the west than Africa.
