I think the main issue is that Ogaadeen want to "Ogaadeenize" the movement for an independence movement. The Ogaadeen are the largest clan there, but they aren't the majority of the entire population, there's all sorts of other Absame (like Bartire), other Darood, Dir, Saransoor, Hawiye etc.

Not to mention the ridiculous territorial disputes with the Oromo, which the Ethiopian government has engineered in order to keep Somali and Oromo at each other's throats.

There's also the issue of "Western Somalia", not everyone there wants to be part of Somalia, and want either autonomy or independence, but not merger into Somalia.

Both the current names are bad. There needs to be an independence movement that:

1) Is "Somalinimo", and not one clan or another
2) Does not refer to Somalia
3) That Oromo will support
