My University Makes National Headlines 
First months at college terrifying for parents, deadly for students
Central Washington University students who attended an off-campus party where 12 guests overdosed could be expelled, according to ABC News. The party made headlines when a dozen of the approximately 50 attendees were taken to the hospital due to overdosing on what authorities believe to have been rohypnol, more commonly known as the date rape drug. Officials won't be sure if rohypnol was administered until toxicology tests return, which could take weeks, according to ABC.
All hospitalized students have since been released.
CNN reports that police responded to a distress call around 11 p.m., and were told to go the party -- where they found that several guests had lost consciousness. Because most of the victims were female, police are investigating whether women were targeted as sexual prey.
According to ABC, CWU Director of Public Affairs Linda Schactler intends to help authorities with their search, and asserts that those who spiked the drinks will face consequences, from mandatory alcohol education classes to expulsion:
Central University has a student conduct code that students are held to no matter where they are in the world. What we are going to do is talk to each student and there might be repercussions. If they were underage and they were drinking that's against state law and university policy.
Police do not believe that the party's host was responsible for drugging the victims, and a recent report indicated that no drugs were found in the home. No arrests have been made at this time.
