Do you think the culture our Somaliniimo will erode with the Malis here in the West? I am afraid of this reality. Somali boys and Girls---drinking alcohol as if it is water bottle, Malis frequently geting into celebrity wagon, and into our livingroom via Tele. (Knaan case in point) Malis not even know what qabil is or get offended when qabil is used in good or in vain. The raw,authentication of Somaliniimo---will soon perish. Arent u guys concerned? Thank God there are malis left in somalia. May Allaaah lead alshabaab to fix our countries issues. Inshalaaah, amiin.

The next generation of Somalis born in the West will become completely westernized, at least in the U.S where they don't live in ethnic ghettos, and somalinimo will become completely lost. Even the first generation immigrants are seeing a dilution in their somalis, as demonstrated by the large amount of English words adopted into their Somali. And becoming westernized doesn't simply mean fornication and alcohol, it's not that simple. I see future generations of ethnic Somalis living in peace and harmony in their adopted countries as an integrated minority, and the wartorn homeland being a distant and exotic place.

Sweety, this is our lowest! Let K'naan do his thing, I'm not a HUGE fan but I support the kid for what he's doing. I know for a fact that our Somalinimo will not vanish. I know kids who were born here who are proud of their Somalinimo and who speak Somali, you have no reason to worry. But then again, for every one American born kid who speaks Somali fluently, there are 100s who don't. Btw we're not Malis, we're SOmalis.

i see my siblings and cousins who really think is eeb to be somali!!! dont even know what is somali tribes for that matter.

but as i see here seems some families memorize their kids qabils and who is their enemy etc . so there's hope i guess in the west!!!

That's bad, not something that makes me hopeful. Kids who have never even seen Somalia chanting qabiil and knowing who they're 'supposed' to hate.
