If the star was removed it would lose its value. Its more authentic to keep it as it is, because after all the symbolism is more important. Also, it serves as a point of reference for the people of Somaliland and that doesnt bode well for the former Somalia image.

I would build a museum and store the plane, after 20years not many people on the ground will really notice it. Make people pay to see it and i assure you that would deliver a concrete stamp on the visitors. Make it a requirement for all school kids across the country to visit the museum.
