The tale of these two communities raises an obvious question: Why do so many Somalis in the United States seem to be thriving, while their counterparts in Sweden continue to languish?

This week, a Swedish delegation of government officials and scholars is touring Minneapolis to find the answer.
Seeds of their historic visit were first planted in 2005 when a Swedish professor named Benny Carlson traveled to Minnesota and was struck by the sheer number of booming markets and malls run by Somali-Americans in the Twin Cities.
He vowed to return with a team of government officials to use Minnesota as an example of what can be done in Sweden.
Besides meeting with local Somali-American business leaders, the entourage has met with Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and other city officials to discuss planning and economic development issues. They'll also pay a visit to the American Swedish Institute and learn about Minnesota's changing demographics from state officials.
Refugees began arriving in both Minnesota and Sweden in the early 1990s, after civil war broke out in Somalia. Minnesota has the largest Somali population in the country, numbering 70,000, according to some estimates.
In Sweden, a second wave of refugees has arrived in recent years.
While many Somalis quickly established their own shops in Minnesota, their counterparts in Sweden have not enjoyed the same success.
On Monday, the Swedish delegates reported that 60 to 70 percent or more of the Somalis in Sweden are unemployed. Delegates pointed to Sweden's heavy regulations on businesses and a lack of business education for new arrivals as part of the problem.

And the shocking truth Somalis in other parts of Europe are even way behind or worst than Somalis in Sweden.
In America its either work or go to school or do both at the same time, or start your own business. in Europe though, they get some free house and money and most ppl don't think, they just suck on the cayr, while doing fadhi-kudirir @ coffee shops and in Paltalks.
Also there is a bit of discrimmination in europe, where Somalis and other immigrants are treated like refugees and not like citizens, so they are segregated from the larger community.
Then begins the question of Capitalism vs Socialism. That is why i am a Fox News fan, and maybe a Pseudo Republican. I am all for raw, unadulterated Capitalism. I hate Socialism and government dominance. But beside the glaring economic differences---the Swedes and Americans have a huge culture difference. If you drink Swedish water-- u r more proned to depression.(i can proove that somali swedes are proned to depression. Speak to anyone who has a family and sibling in sweden and u will hear they are not in touch with them.they are lost in the air, isolated and medicine druged at worst) Sweden has the highest suicide and depression. Somali Swedes are different from the rest of western somalis. They tend to be anti social, withdrawn, more civilized and enlightened yes, but i suppose less authenticly somali-iish. While American Somalis have not evolved at all. Walk into any Minnesota or Colombus ohio mall with somali restaurant at close proximity, and you will be regailed with an orchestra noise of baasto chewing sound. It is truly deafening and disgusting. American Somalis have not evolved at all because-- they have created their own community- mogadhishu. Americanism encourages individuality-- and the raw, street qaaaq spitting flight 13 Mali man is congratulated and accepted as an individual. Yes, u can say the capitalism--has helped somalis open many businesses and venue wherre somalis can meet and interract therefore redusing the depression and suicide inclinations. A somali is by nature a nomad---he cannot survive in isolation. He needs his own savage kind, his own noisey kind to prosper or be happy.If the Swedes wants a Minnesota type somali same kind of a mali mall store--they need to invest in capitalisn and less government. Simple as that. Go republicans. 
How did i turn a positive thing into a negative thing? 
I merely stated facts that makes the Minnesotan Somalis more prosperous than The Swede Somalis. IS that negative ?
