Android owners...

Post by sexy-kitten »

What kind of phone do you have and what's your favorite app or widget?

I'm obviously excluding the preloaded apps. So far, I found these applications useful...

Advanced Task Killer
Barcode scanner
Google Sky Map(very cool and entertaining)
Dictionary.com I love using this when I'm bored or waiting for someone!
Ringdroid
JEfit Exercise animation good if you have a sucky schedule and don't have a whole lotta time for gym.

Anymore apps that you'd find more useful?

Use express card very productive apps if you are type of person who
enjoys calling families in the distance and friends. Saves you time

I don't get this whole tech gadget craze. I must be the only person in my age range who is going in reverse when it comes to technology. I had a phone I got from 2 or 3 years ago, it was decently advanced for its time. Over the years I destroyed it and needed a new phone. I went searching the classifieds and bought the same exact phone instead of getting a Zandroid or whatever these new phones are called. Call me old fashioned, but dialing a number does not need a $400 machine.

No, I don't call long distance. The most long distant call I'll make is to Canada!

Thanks though! I've already downloaded it. Oh yeah, Where & shopsavy are very useful too!

Monk, it's actually over 500 and I wouldn't be that stupid to pay for a phone that expensive. You can't knock it unless you try it. Those phones are very useful. You can argue about where the world's tallest building is located while you're having dinner with friends and BAM! You pull out your baby and type OR say the question and the smart and powerful google will pull it up for you in a matter of seconds. I can actually sit here and advertise this program all day for you but I'm sure you wouldn't give a rats ass!

So, with that said the topic is for ANDROID OWNERS

Galaxy. Does it matter? The market is open for all Android phones. Some apps might not work as good on certain phones though!

One of my friends bought an expensive new phone that's ran by Android, but Arabic doesn't work at all, it just shows everything as blocks. He also couldn't find any update that could fix this but he said that he found out that Arabic support to Android doesn't exist.

Is this true or does anyone have Arabic letters working in their phone? I'd like to buy a new phone, but if this doesn't work and is unfixable then Android will be out of question.

Salahudiin, do you mean Arabic keyboard, translator, or EVERYTHING on the phone being translated in Arabic?

Salhudiin, same with my phone. Maybe you should call your telephone provider and ask what can be done about this problem.

Liqaaye, the bar code scanner is pretty cool. You can download it and scan something simple like a Nyquill and it'll tell you the cheapest ones online. That's pretty much the same with "shopsavy", all you have to do is scan it and it'll give you local pricing as well as online shopping deals!

Ok that's quite strange because of the hype that's going around Android. I mean I could read Arabic text messages with some European Nokia's 10 years ago. It's unbelievable that some brand-new operating system doesn't recognize other letters than Latin...

I guess it's amazing system overall, but these kind of things should just work by default...
