Male/female Somali etiquette and grey areas

Post by BlackVelvet »

This is with regard to potential female/male friends to be. With Christian, Hindu, Athiests...there is no grey area, you will never have more than friendship because you don't see eye to eye on the fundamentals in life but how do you become friends with someone who you can't disregard or can't disregard you based on this and particularly when you have no romantic interest in them? i.e. a single Muslims Somali man or woman for the guys.

What I am asking is; if I invite a Somali guy I met a while ago to be my plus one to an event which, from what he has said, could potentially be of great benefit to him am I being conceited in thinking that he might get the impression that I am trying to make a pass/want him to make a pass at me? Any other guy I would invite without batting an eye lid but he's Somali... :?

In my many years, I have only ever had 2 male Somali friends so help a sister out I don't want the guy to get the wrong impression

 @ in my many years. Isla waynay.com

How are you doing BV, can I say it's been awhile?

It depends on the guy, I mean if he already explicitly told you it would be a great benefit for him, then obviously he did it with the impression of you inviting him, if his intentions are correct. I can only say dude go for it, and if he makes a pass at you... well your a girl it aint the first time you rejected a guy

But if your worried about the conclusions others might draw, then that is another case that has to do with others and the way they look at you, rather than the guy. If you have a certain reputation or history where you have platonic relationships with guys, and don't mix with them too much but at the same time aren't completely adverse to being seen with them, then you have nothing to worry about. I hope I aint going into too much of a tangent. :?

Yes it has been a while. Did you give your account to your PMSing sister?

And yes in my many years, I am duq don't you know :?

He didn't explicitly tell me so, infact he has no idea there is something like this going on. I just inferred it from previous conversations. You're right though, what's the worst that can happen...I wasn't going to stick to his arm the whole night anyway. I guess if I don't smile as often as I normally do he wont get the wrong idea. Ha! I just remembered some guy telling me that Somali girls get wiji cambuus coz they think every guy is after them, have I become one of those girls

 @ pmsing sister... arsehole :?

wa iga yartahay you know that right...

Have mutually beneficial acquiantices I would say wala nin ama naag. The thing I hate about male and female relationships is there is always one side that will try to push something, either the guy will hit on the girl, or the girl will wonder why he doesn't hit on her or see her in that way.

BV don't tell me you are one of those girls that get insecure if a guy doesn't show any interest in you though your not interested? Are you insecure? Are you afraid some people just may not like you? :?

Seriously, you're telling me that was you the whole time  You were being a bit hormonal runti, I am not taking the piss, I actually thought it was someone else on your account.

You're right about the male/female friendships which is why is easier when you both know for sure that it will never happen.

Yeah I am totally one of those girls, I go crying to him like aboowow waan kujeclahay nooh  Then if he still doesn't confess undying love I just stalk him with flowers until he dies of hay fever.

ps: You are 19 dude and I am like almost twice your age
