Observers suggested that it will not be easy for the anticipated government to be approved by the parliament any time soon. This observation given the speaker, Shariif Hassan and the premier, Farmaajo has thus far been off point and that is precisely because both of these men have been hand picked by the president, Sheikh Shariif. Yes, the speaker managed to successfully put on a show in the approval of Farmaajo, but any bright person can understand it was nothing more then a very well executed show architected by both the speaker and president. Unfortunately, the Somalis bought it as expected since they aren't that bright to begin with.
Thus far the president failed to secure the capital Mogadishu, not to mention its surroundings. So, why hasn't the president managed to succeed in securing the capital's peace, after all he is the ex-chairman of the Islamic Court Union (ICU), which ran the capital city for six months during the second half of 2006 before they were ousted by the ex-TFG troops backed by Ethiopian army. One call and I'm more then certain that both Al Shabab and the radical group of Asmara faction led by Hassan Dahir Aweys would agree to put down their guns, but truth is their ex-chairman Sheikh Shariif isn't committed fully. The best explanation of why that is which really makes any sense I think is both the president and the TFG opposition, Aways, Abu Mansuur, etc. are in agreement to keep the Somali nation hostage via the Somali capital, after all this Islamic Law the presidents ex-buddies want to implement takes one powerful post to relinquish just as have the president himself. The more government troops trained by African Union continue to defect to the TFG opposition, the more the smoke will clear in time.
It was the organizers of the Djibouti conference whom based their expectation on Sheikh Sharif do to the fact that he was an ex-chairman of the Islamic Court Union (ICU), so way hasn't the president committed to bring his ex-buddies to the table? Well, "instead of securing peace in the capital city and advancing the peace process as it was the plan, the president focused on how he would remain in the presidency of the current TFG and beyond. He immediately worked a plan to oust the ex-speaker of the parliament, Aden Madobe and replaced him with his long time best friend and advisor, Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden. They – the president and the speaker - then decided to oust the ex-prime minster, Omar Abdirashid in order to select someone who will go along with their plan."
As expected the International community saw the so-called TFG president true colors and are looking for ways to minimize the damages. The US plans to pursue a dual track approach to Somalia and I hope other interested nations will follow suit. Sheikh Shariif for the past 18 month it seems has been busy undermining the TFG's bases which is Federalism, I'm more then certain he could've succeeded in securing the capital's peace if he saw Puntland more of a partner then an enemy.
The UN Secretary General special envoy to Somalia Augustine Mahiga managed to praised Puntland's security situation during a recent visit to Garowe, states capital. Mahiga said, "Puntland has achieved success in security and stability that must be emulated by the rest of Somalia." I'm sure Sheikh Shariif could have saw Puntland as praiseworthy, but his advisers have thus far mislead him and he isn't about to put the breaks on. Ambassador Augustine Mahiga, who was responding to a question on the postponement of the approval of the prime minister, said "the fact that the two leaders should really hold the whole world in suspense over a method of voting is something which was beyond imagination". Enough is enough, the show must come to an end, Somalia is more then an auditorium for Villa Somalia's president and his cohorts.
