How do you manage to pass time in the most boring Horn of Africa nation ? Yikes, it seems the days drag on. If you are not a grazer, there are no social activities. Mixing with the opposite sex has to be done covertly. No bloody movie theaters. Its house arrest at night especially if there is a blood feud.

I have exhausted my books. I don't bother reading the Somali websites scouring for news due to BeenBeenSii & VOA being blared in every vehicle.

So bro, how do you pass time ?

I have a very good internet access @ home which helps me cope with all the shortcomings. I go to the beach around midday when everyone else is going to sleep. Then I go back to work and stay there till six or so. At nite, I stay home most of the time. I just finished watching Avatar and about to load "it is complicated" I have House Party 4 for tomorrow evening. I brought a very nice telescope and spend sometime looking @ the stars. I also go to near by mountains for sight seeing during daytime. The thing is you gotta create your own entertainment sometimes.

When it comes to mingling my significant other(s) may be reading this so I'll pass Nevertheless, all what you need to do is befriend some locals.

What kind of internet connection are you using ? VSAT ? The net connection here is freaking slow and unreliable.

You sure have found a way to use up your time. I find it quite boring especially as my movements are limited during the night. Praise be to God, I haven't grazed and found it to be a conduit for lots of unproductive and to meet sketchy people.

My biggest pet peeves are the shaxad artists. Everyone and his mother wants a favor or cash. Its annoying and I have instructed my guards not to allow anyone in without my prior permission.

So how do you deal with people asking for favors ?

i kind of felt like that when i was in poland, but at least my internet connection was pretty fast.

Xamar varies block by block. Some places like Medina are very quiet. You don't even hear gunfire. Personally, I love Xamar than most places in Somalia. The weather is better, much nicer food, and being in a big cosmopolitan city. As long as you keep a low profile, you will be fine and of course stay away from the TFG & INGOs.

awahab, Had the south been peaceful, I would be the first person to buy a sea-front property outside of Marka. We have 2048/1024 VSAT connection relayed to our offices/homes vie WIMAX. I see the green leaves disgusting and never associate with chewers.

I beat that Zuzuki like crazy and never wash it. It beats Landcruisers in many situations and saves me a lot of $$$$. Here's my second 4x4, powerful, pretty and and fearless but very dangerous. This type "4runner" of SUV kills more people in Puntland than bullets.
